To both Mike and Johnny about generators.. Yes, I also enjoy tent camping and listen to nature..

The only reason we brought the RV, was due to the amount of room required to transport all the food for the Sat. night meal for RR. So correct, the RV won't be at this event.

We don't run the A/C or a heater in the RV. So, yes as it is nice to have, it is not our camping style.

Mike I'm sorry that our generator disturbed you and Marie, that is the last thing we would want. We have the quietest generator on the market and we try to be considerate of others. I specifically asked the three tent campers next to us if it would bothered them and they said no, and I followed up with them again the next morning and they said it didn't. As they were there first, had it bothered them we would have moved. I truly am sorry that it bothered you, I wish you would have said something at the event so I could explain the below.

Just so that Everyone knows, if you are a light sleeper or don't want to be near a generator; please be advised... We have to run a Generator at night. So if the Rymer's have already set up camp, you may want to not camp near us. And if we pull in and you've already set up camp, please just let us know you are a light sleeper and we will be more than happy find a location away from you, so to not ruin your camping experience.
Unfortunately, we are required to run a generator to power medical equipment when sleeping. I apologize for the generator, but so far all other power supplies that we have tried have failed. So please understand that this is not by choice to have the generator running during the night.

P.S. We have not settled on the generator being a permanent solution, but at this time it is the only thing we have found to work.

Hard not to respect that. Stacy, I have a colleague that uses a marine car battery for CPAP (if that is what you are talking about, none of my business). But he's in FL and has been w/o power since Irma hit almost 5 days ago, and still going on one charge. If you want, I can inquire on his setup.

@mtweller that would be great. I am willing to try it. As we've tried other battery set ups and killed them in the middle of the night. We've since upgraded medical equipment so that may help.

@mtweller let your friend know that Samaritans purse is starting to set up locations in Florida. My mom took a disaster relief trailer down to Fort Myers yesterday

Thanks Ramon. Please send well wishes to your friend. Yes I'm always up for a better way to run my equipment.

Last thing we want is to hinder anyone's enjoyment.

Hard to refute that reasoning. Sounds like you made the effort to limit the annoyance too.

@weejub runs his machine on a battery in his Tundra at night. Not sure if he's used it yet.

I have used batteries for my CPAP for years. I used a torpedo shaped Goal Zero for about three years, previously.

Currently, I have an Oddyssey PC680. CPAP uses about 10 AH/night if I remember correctly.

I can get a full night out of the following - 16 AH, easily:

I put the above in a U1 battery box and take it to the tent each night. I also use it to charge my phone and for a fan.

The tough part is that it has to be charged each day. Without a generator, I was "topping up" my battery last two years at the Outpost. My new truck has a better solution if driving during the days via alternator, but a generator would be nice.

A low cost alternative would be the slightly bigger U1 size - ups the AH to 35:

BOXGRPU1 - Battery Box for Group U1 Batteries at Batteries Plus Bulbs

SLADC12-35J - Duracell Ultra Deep Cycle AGM SLA Battery 12V 35AH at Batteries Plus Bulbs

Current conditions at group camp. Light rain. Watch for FL school bus on the service road.

@weejub we will have to talk and check out your set up.

Two camp sites set and ready for an awesome weekend.

Slowly on the way in 10 minutes. Rear tires are gonna rub with every bounce. I need new springs. Learned a valuable lesson about my LX today - load the roof rack BEFORE putting so much weight inside. No room to stand on the rear tire while strapping things down.

Ive slept with white noise for years, the hum of a generator would make me sleep like a baby.:)

Sleeping at LR::rofl:

I also carry white noise generator, direct to my ears. I wake up if a fly lands on my window downstairs, outside the house.

If you guys want to try my westinghouse quiet generator, someone can meet up with me on the way down in Greensboro. All id ask would be to use pure gas of some sort.

its supposedly 52 or 54 db at 1/4 throttle. Ive got a couple of long 12/2 outdoor rated cords. PM me so I can get the DING from gmail.

Will there still be space for us to set up our tent and park my truck Saturday? I'm not really sure what to expect.

To all that have chimed in regarding my suggestion of having a dedicated area for campers with generators separate from primitive campers, thanks. The many suggestions of ways to power medical devices using batteries vs. gas powered generators was both informative and may prompt some to look for alternative ways to get a good night's sleep that doesn't require a gas-powered device.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone requiring a medical device to provide life-saving support shouldn't use it between the hours of 11p to 7a. Sorry if that's what anybody thought I meant.

However, all this discussion about white noise, light sleepers, decibel levels, and how certain generators are quieter than others... not sure where all that was going. If you plan to run a generator during the hours that most people are trying to sleep, regardless of what its for or how quiet it is, just make sure you camp in the big area east of the bathrooms near the pit toilet with the other RV's and tow rigs.

I finally got around to registering the family for LR 2017.
Jonathan, I am bringing the box of VW stuff, its already in the truck and packed. See you tomorrow

Honda 2000 is 46 db . .

We need to play this. And surprised "on board fridge" is not on it.
