Buy the Aussie or the Lock-right... put it in the front. Then use Woodys right-up in the tech to weld the rear. I was a big fan of lunchbox lockers in both ends till I had one sieze up in the rear of my 40 and it worked even better. Road manners are better with a spool than they are with a locker unless you have an ARB... Seriously.

Hey Clemson I bought 2 of them last night from offroaders, I should get them in a few days.
Thanks for the info.

power-trax

ARB :D

My new e-lockers

Just another thought...I'm going to be going Detroit...I had an EZ Locker and it died quickly...I like the beef of a detroit, more work to install, but much stronger.

Went through the same thing this summer. Went with the Aussie and so far its been great. Got a buddy that put a lock-right in his and the Aussie is smoother locking and unlocking.
Good luck. :D

I'm thinking about the ez locker now a guy has one for sale in that section and he said hed hold it for me until I got paid do you think its worth saving like $30 for the difference in the ez and the aussie?

sup richard,

i've decided that i'm goin to weld the rear on my 40 when i get the axle out to rebuild/repaint/reweld spring perches for the SOA.

i've heard it's not that hard to do, but we might need a little more than y'all's 110 to weld it up (i'm plannin on usin my bro-in-law's 175 w/gas)

I read the reveiws for both and I went with the aussie. I would have went electric or arb but santas pockets aint that deep. Good luck on your purchase and I'll let you know how my project ends.

Malphrus I have access to a big mig and an arc welder on campus if you are interested. I'm kinda thinking about the welded up rear now. Cause then I could be fully locked up.

i'm lookin to do mine in the next week or so, or as soon as i tear apart the rear axle....

Yeah i can go in there anytime there isnt a class. Open times on mon and wed nights so if I decide to weld up the rear then I will just do it one of those times probably.

I've got a LockRight in the rear of my BJ-42 and it's manners are quite acceptable to me. I am gonna drop an Aussie in the front and I'll be good to go. I think the BJ-73 is gonna get Aussie's front and rear.

i dont like me aussie it just clicks and bangs and makes grip everywhere i go :flipoff2:
get one you wont be sorry

I had a couple questions.....

Using a luchbox in the front, how hard is it to steer? I have saginaw PS on mine but would a ram assist be needed?

How does the welded rear do on the street, ya I know the tires are gonna scrub around corners and wear out faster.....but is it scary to drive on the highway or in the rain/snow?

I currently am running 33x12.5 tires but probably gonna get 36x13.5 iroks this summer

Hydro assist (unless you are running very large meats) is not necessary with a locker in the front. That said, I don't like how a lunchbox feels in the front.

Other than scrub, welded on the street is great. Extremely predictable.

I hope to weld it up really soon. I just need to pull the diff from my spare axle and take it in to weld, then I'll switch it into the cruiser. It's just getting around to pulling it out.
