Wheel me out in the cold rain and snow....

...phew...just got in...too much to take in...

Rolled in Friday afternoon having had other engagements earlier in the week. Took a nice leisurely ride from Albuquerque up to Shiprock then to Four Corners then up to Moab on Rt. 191.

Cold and dreary Friday, Saturday, and Sunday indeed.

Great dinner Friday night and the vendors had some wonderful raffles gifts and the like. Got to see old friends and met up with some people I've known on-line through MUD for a couple of years but had never really gotten a chance to meet up in person due to distance, etc.

Female unit was not happy about the rain/cold/snow, so we packed up Saturday afternoon after I ran Fins and Things and headed south. Our plan was to stay in a motel etc. for the night and have a nice ride back to ABQ today.

Well, detour led to more detours which led to Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley....beautiful and stunning...can not really say much more. 900 miles roundtrip.

Enjoy the pics and thanks much to the Rising Sun guys and gals who did such a good job with this event--if you have not gone to Cruise Moab--it should be a must for everyone. I will indeed be back next year (unless gas is $5.00 a gal....:crybaby: )

ps: Hants: I'll grab my CO2 tank from ya next time I see ya--keep it filled!

;)

Cheers.

so, how slick is slickrock in the rain then?

At least on Fins and Things, not very. I had no issues getting up anything and I did not lock up once. I moved between 4H (center locked/unlocked) and 4L.

Now, on the other, more difficult trails, I am sure things were more knarly.

Actually the slickrock or navajo sandstone usually becomes grippier due to the old stuff being washed off. It's the other places that become harder or going through the mud.

Awesome CM this year. I didn't take many pics at all. Camera Died right before I went through the crack so hopefully treeroot has some good ones :D

Had a couple beers with the mississippi fellow (sorry forget your name) that came with the guy in the mini with a diesel.

Moab was wonderful, I'm so glad i went (since i missed last year) I had a great time....no pics to post right now though someone has my camera and memory card, but I'm sure he'll be posting again soon.....

great week!
thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the raffle truck..

It was good to see folks again, as well as meet new people. Since I didn't get to have my normal co-driver with me this year, could someone post some pics or email me some, from gold bar on thurs, metal masher on fri and steel bender on sat?

Especially friday with me on widowmaker. For those that don't know - I am "green machine" in the rising sun as well.

oh - and in case anyone is wondering, a "bobby longshot" is better with tequilla rather than whiskey

Those are the potash evap ponds. They flood the mines with water and let them sit til all the water evaporates leaving potash.
