Yes, with enough money, anything is possible.
But Im curious - what engines have people swapped into a 60 series in the past?

Was just curious what possibilities are out there
 
A Chevy V8 is historically the most popular. Cummins diesels for a diesel.
If this question was asked on Google, you’d get all the information you’d ever want.

When people do swaps, what are they wanting out of it?
More power?
Less weight?
More MPG?
Does something like an LS do that (all of that) for this truck?
 
An LS swap essentially transforms and old truck into one that drives much more like a newer truck. Bringing brakes and steering up to prime operation is also important. Certainly more HP and TQ, probably a bit lighter and also better MPG. The big plus about the LS swap is reliability and parts availability. Parts are everywhere as are mechanics that know how to work on them.
 
We are working on a kit now. Complete Tundra drivetrain.

Except that the coveted Toyota 3UR is essentially now a discontinued engine
 
Over the last 40 years GM TBI 4.3, 5.7 , 292 straight six, small block 350, 327, 307. 283, big block 454. LS 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, LS1 5.7
Ford 302, 351, 300 straight 6
Mercedes diesel OM617
Mostly GM because of the adapter availability

300-400hp if you want it or keep it mellow with 250hp. Best turbo diesel Toyota ever built in my opinion.

depends on what you use it for, highway, rock crawling daily driver. The TBI 5.7 was best on gas mileage but about 75-80 HP less than the LS.
At 200 Hp it would break things a little faster than the 2F but I could tow a trailer with a couple dirt bikes and camping gear to Moab
at 65-70 and still get 16-17MPG. It was very reliable. I ran it over 300K. I lost a water pump seal on Hole in the Rock trail so I disconnected the belt
and drove 65 miles back to Blanding without the water pump being driven and never got above 215. The advantage of a mildly tuned V-8 vs a hot V-8.
For a soft top 40 it was a great all around choice. Simplest and most forgiving of injection. 12-14 PSI fuel system makes any trail fix easier than the 45-60 systems. Now, I'm running a Vortec in the 60, TBI on a 40. The 40 is primarily trail with a 199:1 final drive, manual trans. With that low range I only need about 20hp but in high range I can still travel the freeway at speed. The 60 is 200olbs heavier, loaded, so the extra 100 hp is good. It still sees a lot of trails but I do a lot more long range trips with it. It has a final drive of 90:1 with an auto trans. Parts for Chevys are easy to find, no matter how small the town. Adapters are more available for a variety of transmissions and there's more aftermarket for chevys than almost any other

uh, 12HT? Gturbo - same Hp and Tq specs as new 2024 GM 6 cyl turbo diesel. But if someone could build a kit for that engine it
would fit nicely.

Having driven the LS 60 for 100k .. I’m yearning for a Toyota diesel. Not sure why other than cool factor and I’m slower pace nowadays. But damn.. the Toyo diesels are worth their weight in gold
 
If you want to stay with a Toyota diesel, then the slow 1HZ is the way to go. Basically a bolt in installation. The engine is still in production, parts are readily available and it is easy to work on. Adding a mild turbo boosts the performance to an acceptable level without compromising reliability. However, unless you do it yourself, the installed cost can be quite a bit more than a LS swap. If driven like an old man, like me, you can easily get 20+ MPG. My last tank was 23.5 on biodiesel blend. However, you have to be able to work on it yourself or have a good shop. Fortunately I have Valley Hybrids close by. Georg, @orangefj45 is a great source of information and knowledge.

Anywhere I can follow the project, process, and details to this?

I've a friend on the West Coast that has a 3UR(UR) to T56 pattern adapter. Curious what 6MT 4WD transmission options are available.
