Lining the whole rig with Al's

I have a black LX450 I am going to use I think. What do I need to do re the side cladding? Do they need to be taken off or is there a way to leave them on for spray job?

I don't have a 450 nor cladding, but to do the flares I removed them, lined, and replaced with new gaskets. The look of paint sprayed over gaskets is not a good one in my book, but some people don't care. I've read that the cladding is alot more involved to remove, so maybe you can find a way to spray with them still on. Is there a gasket between the cladding and the body? If you have to tape anything off, electrical tape works great - better than masking tape.

Just adding pix (it's a good place to store them). I'm getting ready to line the wheel wells, and probably roll another coat while the kit is out as the liner has actually gone a bit chalky - maybe due to it being a custom tint, maybe too thin a coat, maybe too much vinyl flattener, not sure. Might even do a color change to Vista Green...pretty easy to do since the prep work's been done.

I like it. Als in desert tan is going to be my first back from Afghanistan mod. You need the old school
T O Y O T A grill to match the retro emblems now. Makes me wish I could swing some bumpers.

Wow, I'm surprised it's turning chalky. You might want to call Al's and ask them about it. Mine is still shiny and looks like new. I did not add any flattener.

Best of luck in Afghanistan & post up your desert tan project. I'm tempted to go that route too (tan I mean)...:hhmm: I actually have the T O Y O T A emblem and all the doodads necessary for a Satoshi grill all sitting in the garage - one of these days I'll get it done.

I have an email with pix in to Al's, I'll update with what they say. I'm thinking with the next batch in reducing the amount of vinyl flattener to 50%. It sure looks like all those white flattener particles are just sitting on top of the coat.

that blue looks good

Thanks man. I'm going to let my boys weigh in on the next coat & color (they spend almost as much time in it as I do), & they like bright colors  I dig this Al's Vista Green alot:

Great job! I plan to take off the 450 cladding I have on my Silver LX and put Al's liner on the lower 1/2 of the truck. I am going to try and tint the Al's to match the stock colour or be a bit darker. I will follow the factory body line like I have seen a few others do. I would like to put on LC flairs once I am done though, we have tight tire laws up here and the 315's will stick out past the fenders with out flairs.

We are also planing on doing the tan Al's on my brother HJ60 so we will do that before I tackle the 80.

Thanks for the write up and keeping it up to date.

Windows are tinted limo black, fronts are 50%. Nice & dark inside :D

Did you just tint over the factory bronze in the back glass?

Have you heard back from Al's yet?
