That color looks right on a cruiser.
I wonder what the life expectancy of that type of finish is?
It is certainly tough enough.

I did mine two years ago and it looks new. Big thing is to get a product with a UV protectant, or you may not like it much in a couple of years. Does add quite a bit of cost.

Outside of physical damage, I am not sure what would go wrong with a cured, UV protected, poly coating as long as you prepped correctly.

That's awesome! I think I'll do that on my FJC someday. Very cool and looking forward to seeing the pics with the black rims!

Al's Liner's website said:
Does Al's Liner have a warranty?

We warranty Al's Liner to not deteriorate or degrade in any way. The warranty does not cover physical damage and the application is up to the applicator. If you do not mix it properly or prep the surface correctly, that falls under the applicator. Be sure to read the mix and spray instructions carefully

And what Nay said.

Sweet!

I think an FJC would look great like this. It will probably be another week or two before I can get the rims painted. Thanks for the compliment.

Not yet. I literally just did this a week ago. I'll be wheelin' for 4 days next weekend, and I'll report back how it holds up.

:steer:

The one mistake I made with my 40 was wheeling it less than 24 hours after aplication to the rear doors and a few other spots. These stained with the mud that got on it. Yes, the instructions say not to do what I did. No I didin't follow the instructions....

You're more than a week, so should be golden, assuming your directions are simular to the ones I didn't follow with durabak. Flares on 80 have held up much better color wise due to following instructions and stuff like that.

Yeah, full cure with the Al's is 72 hours. I should be good to go!

How'd you paint the wheels? They look really good.
I'm about to paint mine black but am having a hell of a time finding that Duplicolor Wheel paint in flat/satin black.

I tend to keep things easy.

Sanded.
Primed with rustoleum primer.
Painted with rustoleum gloss black.
Cleared with rustoleum clear.
:steer:

Edit:
Scratch that. I ran out of clear after the spare wheel, so the four on the ground will just dull along with the sliders and bumpers. Touch up is super easy though.

3 gallons and a bit more, I believe it was sprayed. not rolled. will find out from local Rhinoline shop that did the panels etc.
Not including engine bay or door jambs... added weight was significant. I might ask owner to do a weigh scale test...
havent looked into charicteristics of Rhinoline but I believe it is Poly and maybe other compounds.
It was quite thick I will admit.

When I rolled on my Durabak in three coats it was only 3 gallons and ~30 lbs. I'm not sure how you manage to use more than 3 gallons and how you get polyurethane with rubber bits to weigh a whole lot?

I don't think the added weight would be more the than the weight of three gallons, unless Al started to put black holes in the mix.

No this is a great product for all of the above. Goes on much thicker than the more well know DIY kits. There are no ruff particles in the mix like herculiner or the like. This is a great solution for lining the interior of your 80 too. Not as soft as carpet though:D

How's the noise factor inside once the carpet/liner is removed and it has been sprayed?

All packed up and ready to wheel for the next three days. Got the wheels painted too:

:steer:

Killer rig ardentyota! I really like the tan & black color scheme, it reminds me of the new Trail Team FJ.

:doh:I'm a little behind. That's what a weekend of wheelin' will do!

:hhmm:Hmmmm... Black Holes?

We didn't line the inside. Just the outside. I can tell you though that the noise inside is noticably less even with the mudders on than it was before. Also, we lined the wheel wells with black liner and it keeps the rock noise down too (rocks hitting the wheel wells and body).

Thanks! I'm lovin' it too!

Ok, status update:

I ran Holy Cross this weekend. I'll get more pics up tonight.

Stock on 285's
There were rigs there with up to 49" tires. I did pretty well IMO...

Nay hit the nail on the head- This is the EXACT same color as our roads out here. I tried all weekend to get the darn thing dirty, but it wouldn't ever show it. I'll get pics up tonight of what I mean.

Durability? Awesome. Amazingly, and somewhat disappointingly, the body didn't touch any rocks this trip, it did touch plenty of trees though. We ran Boulder Mountain and the branches were scraping both sides like crazy! But no scratches on the liner! The truck bumped a tree and it left a dark spot on the passenger side. I think it's just sap, but it wouldn't come off in the pressure wash. I'll get a pick and try to clean it another way.

Sorry that I don't have more pics right now, but I'll get them up tonight!
:steer:

Good to hear. I hit lots of trees too :) Need to do this to mine.
