I really think this cleans up the look of the cruiser. Gives the impression that you have more lift then you really do.

I think that was the very first thing I did, although mine weren't factory. Somebody put those tube type running boards on. Straight to the trash they went.

I took mine off when I bed lined my rig and did a face plant that very night

Over the next few days, I came very close to doing it again on a few occasions, so back on they went until I can afford some proper sliders :meh:

Ya, takes some getting use to. I had mine off for a week until I built my slider mounts. Had some close calls myself.

Mine came off the next morning after I got my 80. They were just in the way for me when getting out, the back of my leg would drag on them. Had the same issue with my Discovery 2 and put those ones in the trash after about a week of getting the back of my pants dirty. I'm almost 6' tall and even with the OME heavy lift I don't see the need for the extra step to get in.

:skull::skull:Running boards are the work of the devil.:skull::skull:

They seduce the unwary, then attack their vehicles when least expected. Just something to hang down -- like towards the devil -- who then reaches up to render them asunder.

Our truck never had them, or the cheezy roof rack. I feel blessed.:hillbilly::steer:

Of course, I'm the guy who put a nice crease in the rocker panel of a new FJ55 within 2 weeks of owning it.:bang::clap:

Yeah my roof rack went straight to the trash after it hit every sign and rafter in a parking deck

I only ever use my running boards for loading and unloading the roof rack. Otherwise I'd like them gone. I don't think the wife or the kids even use them to get in and out.

I had one off when it was reconfigured by a rock. Most of the hardware holding them on will snap just touching them with a wrench, so once they're off, they will likely stay off. But I'm still on the fence.

Well, with 6 inches of lift..(officially 7" but settled some) my wife and daughter have a bit of climb to get in. If I took off the boards they wouldn't be amused. Sliders are in the plans but a ways off yet. I might take the boards off just to see what it looks like. I took them off my 70 and really made the truck more...."truck".

yup ... they do spoil the look ....

here's mine without

The 80 looks good without them, the inward curve of the body looks right, I just would like a way to finish the bottom of the flares.

As soon as I can afford some step sliders I will do away with them. I have 2 small girls and my wife uses them religiously so if I don't have an alternative in place I would get in big trouble.

I have Slee's normal sliders (non-step) with grip tape on them. OME 2.5 springs. My daugher at 2 YO could climb in without help, using the grip-taped slider as a step. Now at 3 YO she gets in almost easily (though I still spot her). FWIW.

Any local mudder can have my running boards (nice shape) for some Moose Drool.

I don't know if they're still available (or the $$$), but the factory mudflaps terminate things so it looks right.

When I ordered my front flaps for my gold lx there were only 6 available on his computer. I was told that was all the inventory for US. Granted that was 2-3 years ago the color was for the gold lx.

those front mudflaps are available from CruiserParts.net, used, $50 each. Not cheap but worth it to keep rocks from hitting my dog!
