Hi all :)

I have been looking into doing a left hand drive conversion for a fj45 Ute and a bj40 (photos attached)
Both vehicles are currently right hand drive and I have been looking into how difficult it would be to make them both LHD.
I have heard though for sale purposes one day if I ever wanted to sell them on that in the US they would not really be allowed on the roads if this LHD change was done?
Just wanted to gauge some different thoughts on this and see how difficult it would be to do this conversion on these vehicles etc

Thanks heaps and Happy Easter,
Tarrah :)

Because both are earlier than 79 changing the whole is pretty easy. Plan on windshield and fenders while your at it. The Ute will have the door with the key lock on the passenger's when your done.

They can be sold as RHD. LHD would increase value some.

Conversions can be done by carefully cutting sections from one side of the cowl and welding them into the other... but making it appear original would be difficult. It is much easier to convert using a cowl from a LHD. With some care it would become indistinguishable from an original LHD.

the problem for you in NZ would be finding all the LHD components.
Not sure the cost of the conversion would be equal to the increased value in the US.

Hi, Check out the guys in South Africa they have been doing it for years. Mike
