Guys the only way to get the best light output from the LX is to do a complete retrofit. I've tried the h1 kits. & it's OK, better than oem but output sucks in the rain. So I did a complete retrofit. So I Purchase some SC430 projectors & CBI 5500k bulbs from a guy on hidplanet.com. here's a few pics of my results. FYI: no problem, I mean absolutely no problem driving thru rain, fog or snow. Excellent visibility, very bright and white with a lil dash of blue tint. Same color as factory led. razor sharp cutoff line to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. Here are my results

Check sites like: hidplanet, club Lexus, or another blog site. You'll find them. YOU can use Honda S2000 projectors. Another upgrade to the LX projectors is using tsx-r clear lens.

I replaced the fuse on my fog lamp fuse box and finally got the bulbs to work! Here are some pics with my brights & LED Fogs, just dim, then just bright

And then looking at the front with just the fog lights on, front right I managed to crack the bulb but it still works, I need to replace the whole fog lamp as its been swimming and the silver inside reflective parts rusted off, also worried about popping a fuse again there so gonna have to make it water tight - there will always be another River to cross or mud run for fun!

I just tried putting in 40w LED bulbs into the high, then low, then fog lights, they all were plug and play but nothing worked... And because the bulb was a lot longer than standard bulbs I also managed to crack the $!"?!* glass around the LED... Eventually removed the dual Battery's and they went in easy enough but nothing worked, wondered if it was because the highs were 60W, lows were 51W and the LED's were 40W and the computer picked that up?

Ouch!

This is the 9006 bulbs I have installed:

They are now outdated, the newer models have higher lumens and a wider beam angle.

Stonekutter, did you only install the 9006 (low beam)?

Correct, I only did the low beam 9006. I haven't touched the high beams, yet. I am considering add them as well but the DRL impact is a good one. For now they are different colors and I don't mind it as much.

Looks sweet. Is there a thread with a walkthrough on the retrofit process and parts list here or somewhere else?

I have a build thread here, hidplanet.com & clublexus.com it you can google it: Lexus LX470 retrofitted with SC projectors.
I ended up finding the one here linked over from the one at clublexus.com. is your shop still doing retrofits in-house? might consider sending mine over if the price is manageable.

I don't have a shop. I just did my own retrofit. Wasn't that hard to do. We might can negotiate a deal. Do u have everything?

Only pieces I usedw were oem SC430 projectors, osram CBI 5500k bulbs & oem denso ballast came from my Lexus GS. Put it all together. Everything just lined up

my bad, i was confusing you with 200UZJ. He had a detailed walkthrough on a retrofit using s2k projectors. He had to bake them to get the shroud apart to replace. and I believe he had to do a bit of custom wiring. I'm looking to avoid doing both those things.

So SC430 projectors are plug and play?

Edit: Nevermind, i found your original build thread. here it is at clublexus, for anyone else who's interested.

I baked my headlights as well. Wasn't no custom wiring. I just went to a salvage yard and cut some headlight connectors off another Lexus so I can use the denso ballast. Put it all together & aimed my headlights & boom

S2K projectors are easier to find than the SC430 projectors. They are equally match with a clear lens install. Yes I have that too

More pics. Razor sharp cutoff line, easily spreads across 7-8 lanes, CBI bulbs are pure white with a hint of blue 5500k temp. Bonus you can still see your beam of light in the rain. Anything that have a reflector on it, when my light hits it, it turns blue. Safety vehicle, trucks, construction zones

My headlights are yellowish and want to upgrade to look like yours.

Silverbullitt, what do you mean by "backing the headlights"?
