We never set out to build this for a customer (in other words add up costs). However I can assure you it turned out not minimal since we decided to build it as a new truck, so virtually everything is new or reconditioned. Essentially a frame up. As Chris mentioned, start with a big check book. We are working on a new website and once it is done we will do a build thread. But I know to sell it, it would have to be north of $100k if you take all the time and costs involved into account.
Something is worth what someone is willing to pay and in this case, a good deal for the right client. I would rather have a new 79 than a 40 year old Chevy SS :)

I imagine that close to 6 digits would gett'er about done......:grinpimp:

Sorry Christo. I did not intend to discount your work.....

By the way I had the privilege of taking this truck for a drive a couple weeks ago. Wow, just wow.

Dan - This is the last thing I need to think about in my spare time...... :)

North of 100K. WOW!

80 donor chassis = $couple K
New 79 body = $a lot of K
New drivetrain = $a lot more K
New interior = $many K
Build expense = $many, many Ks

Getting into a completed Cruiser with no damn rust, no gremlins, no cussing, no bloody knuckles, no unnecessary parts to resale for 1/2 cost, all professionally built and driving away = PRICELESS

Are the 79s comfortable for full sized, six footers or are they best left to the wee folk?

You have your numbers right Delancy. It's an expensive proposition to build a 79. Worth every penny howerver.

I'm almost 6' and the truck is perfect for me. It's small inside but has great headroom. Visibility in the truck is excellent. It's very different than current trucks.....it kind of feels like driving around in an aquarium on wheels due to the size of the glass. It has a lot of glass....combine that with thin A-pilars and it's a really unique view. Took me a while to feel like I wasn't on full display when driving it. Everyone comments on how much visibility there is.....I think you sit up a little high in it too(I have OEM seats in mine).

Compared to my Tacoma(03 4dr), the 79 feels much more airy. There is zero in-cab storage...not much fits under the seats, not much fits behind them. Those overhead consoles like in Cristo's are smart.

I have an FJ45 as well that was my daily before my 79 was done......it has horrible ergonomics in it. The 79 is nothing like that one.....
