Mudders,

I am looking for an after-market Engine Skid cover on my '98 LX 470. The OEM was destroyed when thieves cut the cover to gain access to the catalytic converters.

This is the original OEM part number 51420-60010.

What after-market options does everyone recommend?

Here are a potential few that I saw:

Toyota Land Cruiser 100 / Lexus LX 470 Transmission Skid Plate - https://www.asfir.com/gear-box-skid-plate-558063.html

SLEE - Intermediate Guard - 98-07 Land Cruiser / Lexus LX 470 - NOW High Strength Steel - Slee Off Road

Not sure what would be closest to the OEM "coverage".....

I'm a big fan of ASFIR's set of skids.

Aluminum is great here in the Northeast snow/salt and it's lighter weight for mounting/dismounting. Coverage is great, including the cats.

I started with the front piece and trimmed my factory middle cover, pretty sure you could just use the middle ASFIR skid and have a gap behind the factory front skid. Or just jump in and get a package. Price/value is great at ~$1000 shipped for the full set.

If I was out of the rust-zone and/or really banging off rocks all day I could see going with paying more and dealing with steel plates - and have never heard a bad word about Slee's skids.

Check out post #36

The ASFIR skid works by itself if you don't want to replace the front splash shield. The mid skid can also be trimmed to fit with it if you still have the damaged one. The ASFIR skid also provides some nice cat coverage 👍
