Broke my front and rear swaybars on the Rubicon. One link in the back and the bracket from the front driver side dismounted from the axle.

How timely that I get back and see this thread

So I put these puppies on today. Went on real easy and they are real beefy compared to the OEM links and brackets

Put the front brackets on so they could be welded on Monday.

Since the only time I broke one was on the Rubicon, I may have to go back there someday to fully test these.

The rear OEM link is a pencil thick peice of metal

Got the front welded on and installed and had another pricelss lesson you will never forget.

I had the swaybar completely off and the brackets that hold it to the drop blocks had come off. So I am looking to make sure the big droop goes under the drive shaft. After the full install the swaybar was grinding against the steering linkage. Turns out I had the swaybar on upside down. Dooooh!

I'll add that to watch out for that plastic nipple on top of the radiator.

Test them for you

Hey Romer,

Send me a pair, I would be happy to test them for you on the Rubicon.:hillbilly:

What are you talking about MOT :D

(Nice being the moderator and able to fix thread titles)

Are they extended for a lift when using them on highway?

Curious, Landtank, did you ever tweak out the calipers from the 4rnr to work in an 80?

They went on fine with my lift, 2" drop blocks etc.

Not yet, since I twisted up my sway bar links earlier this year and hearing issues with the front brackets this got moved to the head of the line. But the brake upgrade isn't dead, just resting.

now if only he made a fix for the sideways ones. one of my "sockets" is toast.

Those "socket" thingys are spendy as hell to boot. I wish the frame had the captive-threaded holes in the bottom to change over to the bottom-mount style. I'm not convinced that nutserts would be strong enough to handle. it.

buy Slee's drop brackets and get welding, it's not like you need to remove them for anything.

If this is something people wanted I could come up with a cardboard template for positioning the bracket onto the frame.

The "socket" is a factory piece that is retained when using the Slee brackets. It is the 93-95 version of the piece you have made.

What I'm saying is to buy the bracket for the 96/97 setup, weld it to the underside of the frame and change over. Aren't the sway bars themselves the same?

The bar is the same.

I would be reluctant to weld to the frame. I am not a big fan of that. In addition, when (as opposed to if ) you trash that bracket you would have to cut it off and start over.

How many of these brackets do you think have been trashed over the years? I like the bolt solution but just offering an out if someone wanted the stronger link.
