It's 2024. The original keys are 17-26 years old. Most OEM keys have failed by now... I think. I wonder what the distribution is of keys out there today.
Of the active 6 “fob” keys (2 for each vehicle), 5 YotaMD rebuilt keys, and one 18 year old original for the 06LX. Not to mention a plastic shoebox full of extra key parts, lesser “shells”, valet & credit card keys.

I just replace the key fob casing with the Amazon version when they wear, has worked great.

Kind of curious because my 2000 LX came with only the stock (as far as I can tell) key. I'd definitely like a secondary/newer one.

The original shell is long gone, and the original “T” or partial key is in a drawer somewhere, with the valet key. I had this key made from the original about 10 years ago. Works great.

We did similar, for a short time, with a (discontinued?) YotaMD fob, for my son’s car. The problem that we had, was that depending on how the fob was “held” when you tried to start the vehicle, sometimes wouldn’t deactivate the immobilizer. I could deal with it, but my son couldn’t (reliably).

Yeah I ditched the separate fob/key product once I got the integrated one figured out.

Once you feel that metal reinforced remote, everything else feels a little compromised, IMO.

Yep, you’re preaching to the choir.

I just can’t bring myself to intentionally break the last intact Lexus key. I’ve got extra YotaMD kits in my shoebox, and have given a few more to friends and family.

When I bought mine 4 years ago the only "mods" it had were 275/65's, Slee brake lines and a YotaMD shell. If it didn't already come with one I would have done it anyway.

YotaMD going on seven years here.

I have never broken any OEM shells before. I have bought vehicles with broken shell. The following 3D printed shell is still going strong.

Primary key is YotaMD since 2018, two spare keys are OEM.

I tried YotaMD on both of my 100s but I never got it to work right (I assume user error since everyone else raves about them). Got frustrated, switched to AJTs on both trucks. One of those is cracked now so will get another one soon.

I have a new assembly video going live today that might help. Please reach out to me directly if I can offer any further guidance. It's the best quality option once you've got it assembled so let's make sure you can experience that!

Almost 7 years, still going strong with the original.

Backup is rarely used.
