Nice job. I like. Makes me tempted to move my 7900 to the 4r and put one in the 80.

Took a look this afternoon and found my ECU behind the passenger side dash speaker grill on my 95 so it's too narrow to fit the radio like you did. Bummer..... Liked the idea of getting the unit out from under my seat.

That sucks! I guess that's just another way that makes the 94 the perfect year!

Clean install. The TMV71 is an excellent radio, as is the TMD710. I own both of these units.

One nice thing about the TMD710 and the TMV71 is that you can use either faceplate with either transceiver. In my situation, I installed the TMD710 in my 80, because I wanted to take advantage of APRS functionality. I installed a TMV71 in my daily driver. The TMV71 uses an RJ11 on the input side of the faceplate, and the TMD710 uses an RJ45 connection. I simply ran an RJ45 CAT6 cable in my daily driver, which now allows me to have full APRS functionality by using the TMD710 faceplate in whatever vehicle I happen to be driving.

Here's a shot of TMD710 coupled with my TS480SAT installed on a Lido mount.

Over the weekend I ripped out my factory center console and replaced it with a Smitty-Bilt box, installing the TMD710 transceiver inside of it. I also installed a switchcraft RJ45 pass through plate for the microphone.

As for an antenna, I really like the Diamond NR770HB. It's approximately 44" long, and has a coil on it, so it endures abuse pretty well. I originally had it on my ARB, but I relocated it to my roof rack. Here are a couple of pictures of the antenna:
