Just purchased my first 62

Just picked up my first 62, I've owned alot of Toyotas, and I've always wanted a land cruiser.

One hit craigslist for pretty cheap so I ran out and got it, it's a 1988.

The bad is it doesn't run, previous owner seems to think the fuel pump is bad and pulled the tank so I'll start there. Rear quarter panels have some pretty good rot in the wheel openings. And the windshield and drivers side window is busted.

The good is everything else is fairly solid, interior is in fair shape and everything appears to be there.

Does anyone make patch panels for these rigs or am I stuck making my own?

Congrats,
Unless you need the full lower quarter, make your own patch, it is easy enough with a welder. And even then make your own. It really is not that hard.
I got mine through trail tailor, but he no longer is selling them. it was just shy of the bumper indent in the rear so I had to make my own patch there.
I think there are others, but if you can find a good clean quarter from a member here, that might be a better options.

Digging the side decals, very cool. Get a transmission cooler installed on the truck before any long drives or big uphills. You will save $2,000 down the road when you overheat and blow the transmission. Many different setups for coolers on here.

I am assuming of course the new fuel pump gets you going and it starts back to life.

Quick tip: you can hotwire the fuel pump from the diagnostic box on the RH side of the firewall and check for power at the pump connector. My 62 gave me the symptoms of a bad pump at first but it ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. Some hemostats clamped on the return line confirmed that.

Nice truck! CCoT had patch panels on their site - not sure if they still do. Very expensive. I'd try to get a cut from a member, or make your own.

Is the fuel pump bracket in solid condition? That's a hard to find, expensive item to replace.
