Hey everyone just thought I would get around to introducing myself. My name is Chris and I picked up an '87 FJ60 with 197k miles about a month ago. My intentions for it are modest, as is my budget, so right now I am mostly working on getting it running right. So far I have managed to do a basic tune up and mess up the carb. I think a mouse managed to nest in the air filter at some point, which for whatever reason seems to not have been replaced in about the past 100k miles. It came with a Warn 6k pound winch on it that has a blown motor that I am currently rebuilding as well. I realize a vehicle this heavy needs a stronger winch, but with a snatch block i figure it will do for now. I can't wait to get it running better and wheeling and look forward to learning the ins and outs of being a cruiser owner.

Welcome! I have only been around these parts for a couple of weeks, although I purchased an 88 FJ62 two and half years ago. I hope you find the info as useful as I have! Is that a custom front bumper?

Welcome to MUD!

Looks like a clean rig.

You might want to replace your axles seals and go through your front end.

Don't worry about the warn 6000lb winch. They are plenty strong as long as you do not get too stuck.

Welcome, looks clean from the front.

Welcome :flipoff2:

Hope to see you around some time. My brother lives in Chesapeake.

Buy a star and post up lots of pics. Looks nice from the front!

I'm not sure where the bumper came from, it has nothing to indicate that it came from a company so I'd guess that is custom. I just bought a star so more pictures soon.

Welcome!:flipoff2: Sounds like you are getting familiar with your rig
and enjoying some quality wrenching time.

I agree with D'animal. Your Warn should be fine, especially after
the rebuild. Do your front axels. Order the parts from Marlincrawler
and get the heavy duty seals. They are awesome.

Nice paint! In a perfect world, I would eventually get my rig re-painted with something similarly glossy (and orange) but I know I'm just going to scratch it up on a trail some place (eventually).

Welcome to Mud

just a few more pictures. Anyone ever heard of "oil injecting" as a rust treatment? I figured it was just the P.O. trying to push the rig on me, but one can hope.

:flipoff2: Welcome aboard.

If the PO was talking about introducing wax/oil in behind the panels, then oil injection is a very good thing. I would keep it up with something like that.

Wow, it's nice all over. Is the inside as clean as the outside?

welcome

nice rig you got, that is so clean looking.wish mine was that shiny.did it get a fresh paint job?now it's time to get dirty lol. john:D

Welcome and nice rig. We'll have to get together when you're not at school. I've got an 87 in the same color that I'm beginning to make pretty again. Congrats!
