Two of the four seat 'pads' showed some pitting .. so I used some 16 gauge to replace those .. again, underside won't get any grinding or very little .. inside the cabin a little more ..

Then it was on to the passenger side floor pan .. marks a bit of a milestone for me as I started in the driverside floor pan almost 3 years ago .. although the project requires years more of work and ($) it feels good to come full circle .. little wins, right gents?

And just like that another 7 months have gone by .. summer is a busy time for me at work so not too much stuff got done but I did use the time I had to improve the workshop space and workflow. I now have an upgraded sandblasting situation and powdercoating capabilities and I must say, it's making me happy :)

The engine is on its stand, fully wired and ready to go. I'm too chicken to hit the button at the moment. Too much time and money invested. It's like Schroedinger's Cat, it's neither dead or alive, but that means it's certainly not 100% dead either .. One of these days I'll have the (liquid) courage.

Does anybody know, is the swaybar supposed to be asymmetrical like this? I have one of the side legs flat on the ground but the other is bent up .. is that some sort of preload or did it get bent beyond its limit and deformed? any input greatly appreciated, thanks!

no, that is bent.

Another question for the masses .. Since I'm building body mounts all from scratch I am contemplating body mount bushings .. read my way through the forums and have come to the conclusion I do not want polyurethane, mainly to keep a softer ride with rubber (building a family cruiser, not rock-crawler) .. so then, which ones would be recommended? Obviously the 80 series ones, but why not 100 or 200 series or a Nissan Patrol set? Are there any opinions on any of this out there? thanks for your insights! I might be missing something important here, please .. let me have it ;)

Another quick update .. just to follow up on my question above, I did end up ordering a set of 80 series body mount bushings .. in the meantime I'm sandblasting and powdercoating up the little bits and pieces as well as started to put some epoxy primer on some of the body parts ..

sandblasted and powdercoated ..

made a new set of these clamps for the plastic downpipe underneath the front fenders .. will weld them back on before epoxy priming the body ..

not great doing a paint job in the driveway but here we are ...

The next few pics are from the fresh air intake thing that rusts out quite often as far as I can tell from other people's restorations .. I'm hoping to get some input how to reattach the newly made one. Obviously it was spot welded in with a sealant of sorts in between .. I'm thinking to either just glue it down with sikaflex or the like or maybe use rivnuts in the four holes where I drilled the spot welds out or maybe you have a better idea? Let me know :)

rather than weld the entire bottom seam I opted to use seam sealer to seal that up .. figured it's a low pressure environment that should be good enough .. as far as the mesh goes, I'm still trying to CAD up a 3D printable mesh I can insert from below once the unit is installed .. I'm thinking of some flexible filament so I can design it with enough springback where I can push it up and it'll settle in place .. keep you posted on that one ..
