Ran into a couple “big names” at the FJ Summit X, Some where nice and friendly- most were not.

Don’t know if it was the young 20 something year old in a 60 or just too many people there bombing with questions all day, I just wanted to look at your rig and enjoy the Colorado Mountain View’s for the first time

Curious...was this 2016? If so that’s the same year McGuire, Monroy and I were there. Also, getting a few local (TX) friends committed to the Lonestar Roundup. I’ve told them you’re gonna come down and join us so they are “all in”. Put it on your calendar Jake . As mentioned, you’ve got a place to stay if you can get to Central TX.

First time making the great climb up Imogene, Back before the overhang collapsed and it was cool to camp at 14k feet

Imogene went smoothly enough, even for the stock carb. Just a little distributer adjustment and we kept rolling.

Since Imogene was the tallest, had to do the longest trail next

Alpine loop here we come.

You always get excited when you see a landcruiser, even if it’s not a 60

first time town black bear, still don’t get the hype but I sure do love those views on the way down!

First time out to the San Juan’s, also the first time wheeling a 1,000 miles from home. Glad I trailered out.

fuel pump went out right after the steps on black bear, I was able to rig up a Gatorade bottle and had my co pilot hanging out the window giving it a couple squirts every now and then to get us down the rest of the way on black bear

decided it would be safer to get a tow through town and a ride back to Montrose and get the truck and trailer.

FJ Summit X was a success and the adventure bug had been set hard.

With the fuel pump fixed it’s time to get that spare tire off the roof.

not one for buying things I can make myself and I’m a huge fan of does it work vs looking pretty.

so went to the scrap pile and found some old tractor parts, mainly a broken pin and a couple bent arms for the old mans tractor

cut the eyes off the arms and welded the pin to the bumper, then welded the eyes to the swing out. A simple pin on the back side keeps the spare from swinging open unwanted
I used and old gm wheel bearing/spindle and just welded it to the swing out to mount the tire

very simple spare swing out. If you had to go buy the parts new, maybe 70$ total for everything

simple, cheap, and works every time

Sourced an air box and a fancy bolt on carb hat For said air box from Australia, honestly couldn’t tell ya what it came out of

but it bolted right to my 2f

later I removed the gutted maf and just welded on a pipe

It was a fun swap i basically did in a week and have full sent it since then, had a .20 over 2F in it that i had spent to much money on to not be able to do 80 down the highway.

Decided to head down to Disney Oklahoma and see what all the ranting and raving was about, the rzr guys kept telling me I needed to get down there and wheel

had a blast, the cruiser did its landcruiser things and seeing all the other rigs get wild was incredible. I couldn’t believe what they were climbing and making it look easy

Always a good wild weekend down at Disney, it really gave me a whole new meaning of let’s go to Disney. I get very excited now hearing that name
