so am i oblivious or do those roofs look different from what i typically see on 60's? is that nonUSDM differences?

That pic has a 4runner style rear, not the distinctive 60 series liftgate/dropgate. But they are in Japan, could be sumptin we've never seen before....the reinforced pillar on the foreign market models that allow for the spare tire swing out mounted to the body as in the first pic.
The high top 60 (or so I've been told) was for a Troopy configuration not sold in the states. More headroom for the poor slobs that had to sit in the far rear.

That one is not a 60, it is a Hilux Surf, pretty much a JDM 4runner.
