Is this going to be totaled?

I wont be driving it. The wife wants it and she will give me her 4Runner. Sorry but they aren't letting me take anything off. The parts I have are like rear brake pads(I was planning on changing them soon) and a starter core with bad contacts. I just installed a new starter when all that was bad was the contacts because I had to use it the next day. Boy that was a long night.

Is the lesson here to have it towed to your house first prior to getting it appraised? That would give you the ability to pull all the usable mods while it is still in your control.

In Arkansas our Attorney General won't mess with Tow companies and I routinely hear complaints about folks being overcharged or lied to about a car at a tow company.

State trooper calls in a wreck, Tow Company ABC brings a truck out, loads the car and heads to the lot. Next morning the owner goes to the lot (once he gets an accident report he knows what lot his car is at but it could take a couple days as the drivers get re-routed) and they say its $375 plus $40 per day and that the car will not leave the tow yard until a title in shown. Getting a title can be a pain around here and meanwhile the tow company is grinnin ear to ear knowin theyre gettin yo cheese.

Long story short, HAVE YOUR CAR TOWED TO YOUR HOUSE IF POSSIBLE!

The front stopped just short of cracking the radiator. So we were able to bend some things and drive the 300 miles home.

Aww man what a bummer. I'm sorry. And lemme guess the other Mudders 4x4 Labs bumper was solid right?

That's good you got home safely.

I feel your pain. I just had a very similar accident in DV yesterday. Had to cut the 4day trip short after running into a fellow Mudders 4x4 labs bumper at 5 mph in a dust cloud.

5mph won't do that much damage dude.
But don't worry, it'll probably buff out.

Possible front bumper upgrade, depending on insurance assessment? Sorry to hear what happened :(

Well it did. The the support bar on his gas can carrier was a different angle than usual and that's what hit the hood and and bent everything. The guy behind me hit me twice stock bumper to stock bumper at the same impact speed with almost no damage.

Yeah his 4x4 labs just had a paint scratch.

The insurance adjusted doesn't look at it until next Friday. So I'm driving it in the mean time and playing the will it be totalled and should I start taking my mods off game. Just got Brand new 90k service, brakes, LabRak rack, arb awning and dual battery system for this trip too.

Okay, I suppose my point of reference is an ARB.
I hit people regularly (not kidding, that is how they drive here) in traffic. Last week I accelerated into the side rear of an older 70 series, impact speed was probably around 5mph. He had stock Toyota bumpers and there was no damage. I didn't even scratch my ARB...

Side note: your spouse will not understand and probably get upset if you do this with her in the car.

Hah. It might have been between 5 and 10. The driver said it didn't feel like anything. It was a perfect storm of impact points. I hit the support bar for the gas can carrier that was at the perfect height to crinkle my hood and bend the radiator support bars and then hit the recovery point which was at the perfect height to crack my bumper. Even a slee wouldn't have helped the top part in this situation. Wondering if I should replace it with a slee or ARB.

Yep, 5mph can do that damage. Above the bumper and reinforcement bar, there's nothing but the radiator support, fenders, grille, and aprons (which are designed to crush for the most part) to stop an impact. I see hoods "folded" up like that all the time when a car goes up under the rear of a taller vehicle, even in parking lot accidents.
