I have a 2000 100 Series Land Cruiser, and this is the gas cap that was on there. Is it an original?

Should have a TEQ logo on it. Here’s mine from a 98 but it’s new as there was a aftermarket when I purchased and replaced.

This picture you posted is of the OEM, which you got in place of the aftermarket one you had on there when you bought it then right? Thanks for the reply. I attached a better pic of mine.

That's a Stant.

Ok, I bought this gas cap off eBay, clearly advertised as OEM. The attached photo is from the eBay listing from which I made the purchase. Then I found this same cap for sale on AMAZON, and found it again on Wits End, which I thought was a trusted LC100 parts source.

I'm getting some mild fuel vapor odor from near my gas tank door since I installed this. I don't have a check engine light. Something about this cap feels cheap. I feel like I got scammed. or manufacturer changed, and is now supplying cheap caps. I am curious to see if the dealer sells this same one. I searched the cap on ToyotaPartsdeal.com, and the OEM cap they sell does not look like this. I'm confused. Is this OEM, or aftermarket? Thanks.

Why not just run to the dealer and grab one, they're only like $20-30.
The cap You see pictured here is what I just picked up today from the dealer. It has a totally different part number from the cap that I purchased on eBay, which is pictured in this thread. The other cap was not only listed on eBay and showing as fitting my vehicle, but it was also on Amazon, toyotapartsdeal.com, cruiserteq.com, and I believe on wits end, all showing to fit my 2000 LC100. A couple of these sites mentioned here I actually trust.

So while these may both be the right fitting caps, they both have totally different part numbers. The absolute most important take away is the gaskets on the two caps are completely different. The one that I got from the dealer is a sturdy and strong robust rubber, and the one I got from eBay, which was supposedly a Toyota part, is very willy-nilly, with very flimsy and thin rubber used for the gasket. Absolutely go to the dealer definitely.

The dealer wanted $44 but cut me a break at $34 if you want to call that a break. And last, but not least, the cap that I got from eBay caused me to have a check engine light and a gas smell. the I got from the dealer did not!!

The one from the dealer is oem. The other one is definitely a knock-off. Like sunfic stated, the fonts are all wrong. It should like the package you got from the dealer.

TONS of scams on Ebay with supposedly "OEM" parts. For something like this -that could have performance or reliability implications- I would stick to buying from the dealership.

Has anyone tried the one from Toyotapartsdeals? Hard to tell it's quality from the poor pictures online... Link address here
Thats just a random parts drop shipper. Lexuspartsnow and Gmpartsgiant plus many others are the same meh sites.

Go with trusted vendors here like Partsouq, Olathe Toyota, etc, etc.

I wait for Toyota (or Lexus) to run sales then grab parts + free shipping.

Used them years ago. Then found other more reliable sources...similar to what @Rhetoric listed, but also have been using Impex Japan. Although for a gas cap, I'd probably stop by my local dealer and grab one.

Thanks all - the dealer's a bit out of the way but it makes sense to just stop by at this point

Agreed, and it's not like this is something you'll have to buy too often (unless you lose it).
