So Christo, can you confirm if the new design retains the power antenna or not?

we dont know yet. I tried to get SS to give me information on it but they never got back to me. I was going to get the new style but didnt feel like waiting.

Someone's gonna have to order this thing and install it so we can get pictures!

Assuming the snorkel doesnt go OVER the hole for the antenna, then yes the power antenna will be able to remain functional. The reason the previous design didnt allow for it was actually because of the internal connection, that connection has moved farther forward on the fender, well past the antenna mast.

Makes sense. So who's going to be the guinea pig??? :p

I am tempted as my air filter fills up with dust in a few hundred miles of wheeling. But just dropped a bunch on starter, timing belt stuff, water pump and AT valve body, so have to wait.

who wants to replace their old ss snorkel with the new one and sell me their old one for half the price?haha

you'd have to replace the fender. Been trying not to bust your bubble but, there's slim to no chance of someone taking off their fender, unless they felt like spending 1000 dollars to get the fender replaced and painted/blended. Just up and get a new one.

I really want one! But just threw down for well lets see, uhmmmm 315's, f&r lockers, 4.88's, wheel spacers, dual battery system, rack, MORE lights...

But Im very tempted. Wish I could do it myself, but not gonna lie I dont really trust my self with drilling wholes in the fender and door.

I can see this in the maybe near future. How much?

It's listed at 400$, that's what I got mine for.

Yeah, just the A-pillar! ;)

O I was freaking the hell out, I couldnt even drill it myself but I did come to the conclusion that that fender has been replaced before, whats once more if it goes wrong? It didnt, The template rocks..TRUST the template.

Yup, the A-pillar is the worst. The fender is easy, not much else you can damage, but screw up the A-pillar and you screw up the water integrity of your cabin. After doing three 80 Series snorkels, I've come to the conclusion that step drill bits are a great invention!

edit: x2 on trusting the template!

The template was so awesome and perfect I kept it and its still taped to my wall. I made the holes for the a pillar a little on the small side so it was extra tight. So far no leaks and we've had a poop-ton of rain.

Dude, are you in NYC right now? What are you doing up?

On topic: I still have the 3.5" hole saw I bought to do 80 snorkels, is it the same size for a 100?

Negative, the new style requires a 114mm hole saw.
Safari - Snorkels 100 Series Landcruiser

The older one I used a 3 5/8 for it, not completely sure if a 3.5 would have worked. It'd be tight and you'd have to hit your marks perfect.

The new design really streamlines the install process, one hole instead of an elongated one, no having to sillycone the connections, just clamp it, and to some, a nicer design.

I run a schedule 6-8h behind the "normal people". I get up at 12-1pm. Since you're up go post on my new thread!

btw if you dont believe me, check my phone bill. I did call them.

Ya I called SS in Australia back in sept, mentioned their instructions sucked hardcore. Guess they listened.

Hey Loud - would you mind calling the White House and tell Obama his health care plan is screwed up? I'm sure with your call and influence they will straighten the whole thing out right away......

On a side note - I dig the new snorkle style. Better lines.

I like the looks of the new design but......

I spent some time looking at the pictures in the instructions/reading them and noticed that it says the snorkels are designed to fit vehicles for the Australian market. After looking at the pictures that moooo has posted of his 100 (which is AU Spec) i noticed that the antenna is on the opposite side of US Spec 100s. Basically im saying that the antenna is on the passenger side relative to which ever side happens to be the drivers side.

I think this new design is actually going to make the antenna thing a bigger problem for US Spec 100s......Im basing this on my comparison of various photos etc. So it may actually make things better, I just doubt it will, which sucks cause i want a snorkel:bang:

im hoping slee will be able to give the ultimate verdict soon
