That was why I called originally, I was attempting to get measurements and determine if it would solve or make the antenna issue worse. I had a manual 100 antenna so I just went with it. It wouldnt be too hard to relocate the antenna to the other fender though, or put a hidden one in.
I think I'm going to make a custom snorkel from 3"-4" stainless steel tubing and I'm really going to think it out so I doesn't affect the power antenna. I plan on powder coating it too. I'm trying to figure out the intake of it.... I might try to use my existing K&N filter make some type of water-proof housing setup in the engine bay for the filter and add an additional filter the top of the snorkel with some air ram. Possibly a metal one... make it look unique.
* Really not sure how deep I'll ever take my cruiser.... a bit curious though how deep it can go????
WHO HERE IS THE # 1 JACQUES COUSTEAU of the iH8Mudders'?????
- WHAT'S THE DEEPEST...WINDSHIELD? I'VE SEE SOME PICS.....
- DOES IT FLOOD INSIDE THE CRUISER?
- IF SO, WHAT ABOUT THE ELECTRIC SEATS????
- & HOW LONG UNTIL IT FLOODS TO THE ANKLE OF A PASSENGER???
That looks like the exhaust vent on top of the McDonalds by my place. ....
if you drive your 100 into deep enough water... why yes it will flood (and no, you can't make a built in blow dryer to dry the carpets out either). If you have water pouring in you might want to re-think why you drove into the ocean rather than adjusting your seat after you got out.
Just curious, why do you want metal? I would think that the weight alone would cause it to rip itself out of your fender and A-pillar...
For the record, I like the new design much better, especially since you no longer have to drill TWO big holes in your sheet metal. And it looks more like the old 70 and 80 Series snorkels. Almost traditional, one could say!
I think for now, we just don't know, have not heard back from anyone doing an install on a US 100.
It looks close, possible interference with mast above fender, at least duct does not run through middle of motor like old style. Since duct is plastic if there is interference might be able to mold a relief area with some heat or cut and glue up something.
In the first post of this thread has link to install guide for new design. Looks like you need to find an intake box. Maybe someone will trade your K&N for one.
Safari snorkel's instructions call for Sikaflex 227 and I can't find it anywhere. What are some other alternatives that you guys have used to seal the pre-spinner?
