Is it me, or do some paint colors on 60s just do not look right?

My truck is the 4E8 color, which is that stupid beige color. It has however been painted in a darker shade in the past it looks like.

Mine is metallic silver, I dislike that quite a bit, because it is such a common colour for cars because it is non-offensive and so they sell easier later.
But if I ever get to painting it I will paint it in a colour I like even though I know some (ok, a lot) will dislike it.

I think it is very different what people like but personally I have yet to see a 60 in a colour where I just thought "nope".
For me it is the 60 and what fun and enjoyment people have with it that matters.

My conundrum with the paint color on my 60s is that I want to try modern colors on mine (like the dark blue on the new Tundras and Tacomas), but the original colors just look so dang good that I hate to repaint them.

I'm going to paint mine in a Fender custom color like the old guitars. Back in the pre-CBS days, Fender used DuPont Duco and Lucite car paints of the time, and cool colors like Shoreline gold metallic, Sherwood green metallic, Seafoam green, Daphne blue, Fiesta red, Inca silver metallic, Sonic blue, Olympic white, Lake Placid blue metallic...

Either that or a camo pattern like ASAT...

But I have a lot more mechanical work before I start thinking about paint.

what brand/size wheels you got there? pretty slick looking....

thanks man, i like the look of them too

the rims are 16x8, no idea of brand, next time i take them off il see whats stamped in the inside, (post a reminder in my build thread) i picked them up for $200 they came from a bloke who had them on an 80 series, the offset isn't great, but I'm thinking spacers should fix that

the tires are 297/75r16 BFGs

Polerstuff has a pretty unique fj62 in seafoam green or something View attachment 1000039
Does anyone know what color this might be? I just purchased my 1st Land Cruiser (1989) and they are waiting to paint it before shipping it to me. I want to get this color but am not sure if it is Nebula Green or Niagara Green or not a Toyota color at all and a Forest service green whatever color code that is. Thank you so much.

Not a 60 series color.. I'd say early 40 series Spring Green

Thank you so much. Do people not like spring green? Did it or does it get a bad rap so to speak? I shouldn't care but I've never seen it and just spent 20.00 for a sample of Nebula Green and can't keep that up going through all the greens :-)

Most people are traditionalist when it comes to color....(mainly because to do it right you need to do the inner jambs etc... cheap asses or tight budgets won't allow for this, so they stay with the same color) I've personally never painted one of my 60s a true stock color. Closest I came was to a 8B4 blue... but at the last minute, I added pearl to it.

I love the spring green color for a 40, just not sure on a 60. But, to each their own is my motto. I respect many decisions for this reason, while many mock the same choices.

After I finish my '86 FJ60 project I'll be ready to tackle a (partial) restoration of one of my two FJ40s, probably "The '71". Spring Green is my color of choice. "The '76" will someday (maybe) be (partially) restored and painted my other favorite FJ40 color, Dune Beige.
