Is it me, or do some paint colors on 60s just do not look right?

I'm partial to Beige Metallic, myself.

Nice color, poor photo. My faves are silver and tan for the stock colors, but also like most of the non original colors that have been posted up here. Brown is the worst color, and I'm not too fond of red or blue either. Alas, mine is red.

I guess its all personal preference :) As a skiier, I was big into two tone light grey, Grey, black large striping. I even like multi color spectrum blue. Anyone thought of Candy Apple Red metallic paint? yea, wont not last long off road, but still a cool color. I am going to have some fun with someone ones cruiser on here and gimp it another color scheme :)

yea, mine is brown ugly... I want to get another 60 body, do some partial rebuilding of my 3b and do the change.

Lillopaf, was going to use your truck for my Color change project. The lighting is perfect BUT...the gey does not have a shine to it so cannot use it. Anyone have a 60 with little reflections on it, perfect lighting and a medium to high resolution picture? Also, the color contrast needs to be totally different then the trucks color. example a white truck with white background makes it hard to select the change the colors since my selector tools will pick out the white building and the truck. The blue truck in the Arizona desert wold work, but the image is not to clear. YEars ago, once fooled my wife with a Toyota advertisement that showed a new pink Toyota celica and she believed it :) I Photo-shopped the car color from white to pink she could not tell.

Will this work for your Color Change Project, rustybucket? '87 with fairly new paint (8B4 code - original color). Looks gun metal gray, or purple, or black - depends on sun, and angle.

I did. This one is my hunting truck and it hasn't seen pavement since 2000. I could not stand walking back from a hunt to a red truck. Now I have a hard time seeing it sometimes.

I like my silver one best, color wise. I took this pic of my silver '87 just before giving it to my son. White is a close second. I never cared for the red and was happy to cover it. You already have a great color, don't change it! To do it right is next to impossible anyway without a full frame off restoration.

^^^Nice 62! That color looks like what is on my neighbors 80.

My 62 is the charcoal gray which everyone seems to like but me. It shows every nick n ding n scratch on it. Also removing some chrome makes it a little too "dark" for my taste. Though the flaking clear coat is giving it a nice patina these days .

Tan, white, silver in that order are the best, IMO.

From what I've seen around here about 50% of em are white (including mine). Not my favorite for pizzaz factor, but love being able to rub out trail rash from that good old single stage patina. Plus, the white rattle can primer is a close enough match covering up those larger scars that they are almost forgotten. White and chrome just don't work together though.
Looks like most are hating on the brown, but my 60 love affair began when I saw a super-sharp root beer brown beauty cruise by me on the trail as I hunched under the hood of my (orange) '75 bronco trying to get that damn Holley to work right. Twenty some odd years ago and can still remember the smirk on that guy's face as he left me tasting his dust.

Hate the brown love the white love the blue hate the green, what is up with this thread. Everyone is different in their likes and dislikes so let's just except the inevitable. Guess you need to own 2 or 3 different colored 60's to please all. When ever I hear the comment "Is it just me" then it most likely is "you" and it is all about "you" and what "you" like. I happen to just plain love them all! When I see an FJ 60 rolling by it just makes me smile and that is maybe how it should be.........Yup mine is brown and the haters can say what they want to justify the color they are driving but I happen to love my brown Cruiser and so do the many people that stop me and comment. Oh well life goes on and i do sleep well at night......
