@bdawg23 Welcome to the club and to Happy Valley. If you are ever on campus near the Creamery, look for my son's white 80 series parked near Redifer Commons and stick a note on it telling him to wash it once in a while.

Sure! I think the factory color is pollux orange but I can't find the color code by the driver's side door.

I tried going the regular plate option but after the inspection this morning they wouldn't pass it. Even if I put new tires on and fixed the brakes. So I think antique plate is in my future. Anyone have thoughts on going antique plates?

I run antique/classic plates on a number of vehicles, and have had no issue.

I definitely recommend fixing the brakes😉

Haven't joined the Keystone Cruiser yet, but just recently imported a HZJ73 from Japan. Took a long time to get it registered and titled in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but now it's up and running. Will welcome any advice on this beauty - first Land Cruiser.

Hi all, my name is Arthur. I'm in-between the Philly area and Wilkes-Barre where I go to college. I haven't joined yet, but plan to go on more adventures in my new-to-me 1997 FZJ80 after I graduate. I went on a few already, but apparently didn't know about the bushings in these trucks, which were hanging on by a thread.

I'm new to the 80-series world, but I did drop out of mechanic school years ago and owned a few project cars. At 303K (now 308K) it's rough, but it's also triple-locked with a good engine, and minimal rust for a NY truck. I think it's worth the effort. So far, I had the exhaust done, and tracked down the elusive fuel filler pipe. My mechanic quoted me $8,000 to do the suspension, so I'm attempting it myself; a set of replacement bushings is on the way.

If anyone has a good, low mileage set of shocks (preferably in or near Eastern PA) let me know!

$8k for some bushings replaced?!? You need a new mechanic. The main bushings that get worn on these are the front control arm bushings and they can be done in a driveway with a 20 ton press. Or better yet, get a new set of Delta VS arms with OEM bushings pre installed and you'll be setup proper for a mild lift. You should spend some time in the 80 Series section here so you don't get taken advantage of.

BTW, 80s are stupid easy and cheap to lift a couple inches. 4 coils and matching shocks can be had for around a grand.

I'll just get a Harbor Freight press when they get here and do them myself. I'm currently looking for some good used monotube shocks. I want to get this all done before class starts in a couple weeks, so I can't hold out too long.

Does it matter if I use different front and rear shocks, if I can't find all four used? The inspection report doesn't mention springs (I forget what that thief told me) and I've been told they don't really wear out. Do you think I should replace them anyway?

OEM shocks are around $50 per corner so if the current shocks are bad just get them. But the bigger issue is figuring out what's really needed with this rig. I wouldn't trust the guy you took it to so doing anything based on his assessment would be folly. Since this is a intro thread maybe start a new thread in here with lots of pics, info on your truck, any symptoms you're experiencing and let the good people in the club get you going in the right direction.

Now that I have officially sent in my Membership application, I'll give an official introduction.

My name is Derek, I live in Northwest NJ, but frequently travel to Exeter PA (by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) on weekends.
I have an 85 FJ60 and an 87 4runner.
The 60 series is my go-to rig and was what I wheeled in Colorado. Stock drivetrain with Holley EFI and a full desmog, OME Heavy Lift. I custom built a front winch bumper and a rear dual swing arm bumper out of scrap steel from the Denver Airport.
The 4runner is currently stock with 417k miles, a blown engine and a lot of rust. It will be getting a 3.4 swap, hopefully soon, and then it'll be the woods toy.

Nice 4runner. What year?

Hi everyone, Kev here from the Harrisburg PA area just jumped back in the game with another FJ cruiser 07. I’ve had a Tacoma for a few years now ( my third ) I had an 07FJ cruiser back in the day. I’ve had several different Toyotas over the years, but I just picked up a slightly modified FJ. I’m just looking to see who’s around and who’s active. I am mainly looking to get into camping Overlanding trails, etc. nothing too crazy

You are certainly welcome to use my press I'm in the Tamaqua area.
Hey, I'd love to use your press if the offer's still good! I was stranded in the Philly area when I made my post, and life got in the way after I got back up here. I should have time to do it next week.
