Very impressive work Sir. I have read your complete thread two times now and have learned a lot that will help me restore mine. I also intend to use the Hell Creek Suspension. What is your first impression of the ride of those springs. Would also be interested to find out how the ride is later after they have had a chance to break in a little. Again....excellent work.

Thanks guys, much appreciated !

A buddy gave me a set of full doors a while back. They were badly rusted and warped but I decided (against all advice) to use them to make some half doors. They got almost the same treatment as all the other panels ...

..and came out looking ok, BUT because I had to cut them without being able to measure the height for the latches, I had to modify the latches quite a bit in order to get them working. The latches also influenced the alignment adversely and so the general fitment is very poor and I will try to find another set of donor doors. Once I realised that the doors would not look good , no matter what I did , I decided to rather concentrate on making them rattle-free by using some serious rubber. However the doors definately made the vehicle feel safer and :princess: is much happier ..

Question!

I coudn't remember if I read it the first time through and just missed it this time, but what size tires are those? 33x10.50-15? And again, nice work!

I just spent three hours of my life reading this entire thread. Best time I've spent in a while.

Absolutly fantastic Theo. The craftsmanship and attention to detail has been superb.

I think you convinced me to get that lift and add some 33s". Some new seats too.

I cordially invite you and your family to come stay with my family in Texas if you ever make it to the US. We'll show you some Texas sized hospitality and I'll promise you that all y'all will gain a few pounds.

I look forward to the rest of the build.

Huge thanks guys ! :cheers::cheers:

As soon as I can replace the old gutter with the new one I got from SouthbostonFJ, it will go on.

Yep, 33 x 10.5 R15 BFG Baja

.

Get those Hellcreeks, you will not regret it. My 4" still needs to settle a tad, but it was much better than what I had from the start. Last weekend I drove a friend's BJ 42 with the 2.5" Hellcreek lift and his 40 drives like a Limo, compared to mine !

I am gobsmacked by your kindness and words escape me. The entire family says THANK YOU and that you are on, if we ever make it there. :hhmm: Now see what you have started ..

Today we took her on a 200+ km leisurely drive .... :steer:

We also discovered a nice "play-pit" very close to our home where my son can practice his driving skills, safely ...

The new Hell Creek springs are still a bit stiff but they are getting better with each flexing session. The shackle angles are also much better. I think it is time to extend the OEM bumpstops and to then take her out for some more serious stuff ? :steer:

Theo

how is that exhaust outlet doing for you right before the tire? Not sure if I already asked you this? I am going to do the same thing for if it is too much fumes then it is easy to cut off and keep going straight back to rear

Rob

Thanks .

Rob , I have never had any problems or even noticed any exhaust fumes and it seems neither did my PO cos he seems to have had that zaurst on the truck for the last 7 yrs

thanks Theo, I will go with it. Looking great, I have to get some half doors now, thanks!! Enjoy! Mine engine is almost back together again, we will see?
