You stole my truck - Thanks for sharing - it looks awesome !

:hhmm: I need to finish that gutter & roof ...

just wish it was to the same level as yours, maybe another couple of years and it will get there

Mate, from where I am sitting yours looks just great ! I wish my roof was done. :bang:

A bunch of us are going on a 40's only trip in
less than 3 months time and I am nowhere near being ready for a serious 12day overlanding trip into some of the most inhospitable (but breathtakingly beautiful) land in ZA and Namibia

:steer:

With my Fuel Control Relay woes threatening to halt my project for 2.5 months, it got some other positive injection today ..

Man I love the tall and skinny look

Where can I get a set of these tires. The Baja T/A tires in the US do not look like these.

I did a quick search BFGoodrich Tires | Baja T/A® | Tire Overview and it seems they are available in a "Traditional"

and "Different"

tread pattern. Seems we were lucky and got the latter. At the time there were only 20 of these tyres in the whole of ZA and we took 10 of those. Hope you find them

If I was a desert runner, the first design would be great. I like yours because they offer a great pattern to do some grooving on and make a pretty nice rock crawling pattern.

What is the deal with your snorkle? You may have mentioned it in an earlier post, but that's 266 posts long. Is it a homemade job or bought as a package? I would like to make something like yours. If you get time, can you post info about it?

Sorry I only saw your questions now. Some info in post 232 IH8MUD.com - View Single Post - Intro: Ugly Betty(so far)

I got the snorkle with the truck and the head was one of those ugly but very effective Donaldson precleaner types, which I did not like. I finally gave up trying to buy just a Safari head only, from the local Safari agent as they just refused point blank and insisted that I have to buy the complete snorkle kit. I then went back to the Donaldson agent and found the head in those pics, that looks just like(close enough to) the Safari one.I then also found out that those rubber bends and elbows are also Donaldson products that are freely available. Air Filtration I will probably never bother to buy another expensive Safari snorkle again ...

Fantastic! I will look at the site youlisted. thanks for getting back to me,. Your rig is a beaut!

I looked at the site, it is mostly business info. Product purchase is off site. Can you recall the part numbers for all the rubber parts?

Thanks guys !

A challenge to Arron's thread

Not even close ! His thread was probably the main cause of my infection

That link worked. What do you call the one that comes out of the side bonnet? Is it an elbow? It is the first rubber part towards the engine attached to the short section of tube in the picture.

The part numbers would be great. IF you have them for all the pieces, I think I might give it a try.

Do you mind snapping a few picks of the engine compartment (how the snorkle is attached to the air filter)

I couldn't find a part no for the head but IIRC there were only 3 different ID sizes

I didn't X reference those numbers with the ones on that link but even if they have been changed I think the pics should help you to get what you need. If you need more pics just say so

Thanks for taking the time. You probbly mentioned it, but what size tubbing are you using?

Building a 40 is one thing but getting her ready for a serious 14 day overlanding trip is proving to be something else, especially when you realise that the roof will not be ready in time. With our inaugural J4 "Legends Trip" just 3 weeks away, at least some of us have our priorities straight ....
