looks great as expected Theo, I too am having a hood, apron lineup issue, what was the trick to align? just keep playing with the bolts?

We got some OOT visitors and around the breakfast table it was decided (on my behalf ), that the 40 needed to run before they returned home. This left me with quite a bit to do .....

Appart from bleeding the brakes, fuel, clutch and power steering, I also had to fit a few bits ....

And suddenly it was time ! She was too high for the garage door, even after dropping tyres to 0,8 bar so .....

Yeah Mits. I mostly use http://www.toyodiy.com/ to find part the correct numbers and then just order from whatever Toyota stealer gives me the best price.

Rob, it was probably just beginners luck but I lined-up all the other panels first and then the hood last :meh:

Hmmm... I thought I saw a smile on Theo's face in one of those pictures. Need to look again.

Nope. I was wrong - that's not a smile. That's a huge GRIN

Good stuff, Theo! Love it!

DAMN that's nice!

Thank you Teo!
Enjoy your grate FJ40! You deserved it!
In my country (Greece)40 series were not imported too, so I had to find one abroad(in Germany ,where I now work).Certainly our brothers in US , OZ or other spots of the planet ,where 40 series were imported, got it easier the whole thing!
Cheers:cheers:

No P/S(who needs it?),4E9 Toyo beige and ...as original as possible!!!

And the work continues ...
In order to fit the new wipers I needed to source universal clips to marry the old with the current ...

DSC_0027_1426.JPG

DSC_0031_1430.JPG

I sourced a new rearview mirror from Aussie which was a mistake ...

DSC_0036_1435.JPG

as it missed all the bits and pieces required to fit. I ended up refitted the old OEM one ....

DSC_0040_1439.JPG

I was not convinced about the 2" over stock lenth Haystee shackles and as a test refitted the OEM shackles.

DSC_0021_1420.JPG

I liked it so much that we shortened the Haystee shackles to stock lenth

DSC_0057_1455.JPG

DSC_0062_1460.JPG

Then came the new shocks which made the single biggest improvement ...
For the front

DSC_0070_1468.JPG

And OME N75F in the rear

The ARB "maskbar" was just too big for my liking ....

DSC_0114_1512.JPG

A temp fix to keep the rust away while I figure out what I want ontop ..

DSC_0116_1514.JPG

DSC_0121_1519.JPG

Not bad for now ..

DSC_0126_1524.JPG

I have started with some crude ideas .....

DSC_0146_1544.JPG

While the :hillbilly: juices were strong I made some plans to improve the fitment of the new rear reflectors ...

DSC_0107_1505.JPG

Then it was time for the old snorkle which had been galvanized with the chassis and other bits ...

DSC_0130_1528.JPG

The galv ruined any realistic chance of a good finish so I decided to go for a hamered finish paint ...

DSC_0132_1530.JPG

DSC_0134_1532.JPG

Some better rubber to replace the old stuff ..

DSC_0136_1534.JPG

DSC_0161_1559.JPG

DSC_0157_1555.JPG

I also got some decent SABS approved lap belts ....

DSC_0117_1515.JPG

DSC_0127_1525.JPG

Then I got a very early surprise from Mr Yoda in Japan ....

DSC_0177_1575.JPG

DSC_0179_1577.JPG

DSC_0184_1582.JPG

Unfortunately Mr Yoda only had 2 left and no caps at all !

That is a nice looking 40 - well worth the 19 month wait. Well done on the quality work, did you just use the back door LX plates on the side?

Dan

DSC_0005_1756.JPG

DSC_0006_1757.JPG

Theo,do you know if the windshield washer resevoir is still available for our rigs? mines ugly and have always wanted to buy a new one, didnt know if you have researched in your neck of the woods? I want to change out my coolant overflow as well but I have added the second battery tray and battery like the 24V models in Canada so I am really tight and it cant go where originally mounted any longer. Also, what was the measurement from the LX badge to the landcruiser emblem in between? I bought new ones as well, not sure if I was going to put on but I might now but never measured when I took them off 2 years ago.Rob

According to TOYOTA ZA it is not :crybaby:.

I also forgot to measure the distance on those LX badges, so mine is a guestimate(based on my old pics) as best I could :o
