Interior lights

My new to me 93 has a weird problem which I have not dug into yet, thought I would post here first, the interior light does not come on with the front doors, the door open light on the dash does, light works off the rear doors though............ any thoughts?

in case you do not know there are two dome lights, the front dome comes on only with the front doors, the rear dome only with the rear doors or rear hatch

check the front dome switch is in the "door" position if so replace the bulb

I already checked that cause the 60 we owned for years had the same setup, still no worky....

Whe you say 2 dome lights, the front map lights should come on with the doors?

if you include the map light there are 3 lights, or at least there are in a 96, the symptoms you describe makes me think you missed the fwd dome light just aft of the sunroof

I just went outside to check, it does have the rear light, it does not work at all, the one next to the sunroof works either on the rear doors or manually.none of the 3 positions on the switch matter on the front doors

Dan, as far as you know, was there ever an option to have the maplight(or some other light in that area) come on with the doors open? I've been thinking about tieing it into the dome lights because even with the LEDs, I'm still not getting enough light in the front seats. The backseat looks like you're sitting 3' from the sun, but the fronts don't get much light at all.

Bob, he doesn't have lights in the doors. I believe that was a '95-97 thing as my '94 doesn't have them either.

Mine's sitting at home unopened waiting for me to go home and retrieve it(on an out of town assignment). Once I do, I will see what's behind the headliner and see how much of a headache it would be to wire it that way.

oh its a 94

I have the same problem on my rear driver side door and the rear dome. As eric said above, it might be the plunger. I can get the light to come on intermitently if i wiggle the plunger. not sure about the shifter.

I've got lighting oddities on my '97. All the lights work fine, except if you open the rear driver's door, the light in the door and dome don't come on. If I wiggle the harness coming from the B pillar to the door, the lights will come on. Just haven't gotten excited enough about it to ever dig into it.
