I finally got my OEM tire carrier installed so I thought I'd post some pictures and try to post as many details as possible. The first thing I did was download a diagram of all the parts needed for the tire carrier so I could put together a parts list. I can only attach 5 images so some of these are imgur links.

Here's the part schematic I dug through to find the parts needed. I only used the parts I deemed necessary but some of them such as the caps for the hinges I left out to save money.

I came up with the following parts list out of this document:

I believe most of these links should work and the total for me came out to about $750 not including shipping.

Outside of impex, I also bought some hardware from my local home depot and ace hardware.

* Everbilt 36 in. x 1 in. x 1/8 in. Steel Angle 801457 - The Home Depot - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-36-in-x-1-in-x-1-8-in-Steel-Angle-801457/204225879
* Nuts for M8 1.25 pitch coarse. I'd buy 10-20 nuts just to be safe.
* Threadlock blue: Don't want vibrations to undo anything. The OEM ones actually come with red but I wanted to be able to adjust if things acted funny
* 4 60 mm M8 1.25 pitch coarse bolts for the striker/latch mechanism.
* ABS Spacers: Amazon.com - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0915F7K77

I'm no tradie but I I believe the angle iron will be sufficient across 6 bolts to keep the sheet metal from tearing and I cut them in a way to minimize the bends of the sheet metal. If the sheet metal tears, I will update this thread with egg on my face. The is no OEM solution for reinforcing the sheetmetal as I believe the D pillar reinforcement is only done at the factory. You can buy an oem reinforcement for the latch guard but it was pricey so I used angle iron there as well. You will have to remove the plastic trim for the bottom hinge to ensure a good fit. I intend to cut it right up to the hinge and reinstall it so it's less bald.

To get the latch to close correctly on my LX470, I had to angle the striker with two of those ABS spacers turning it towards the latch just a tiny amount. I believe I used 5mm all around plus 2.5 on the left side to get the angle right. I'm noodling how to get my light installed but it involves cutting into the tire carrier a bit. I might see if I can adjust the light fixture instead. I used the 60 mm bolts here to account for the spacers. Do your best to avoid hitting the key hole mechanism for the rear tailgate when aligning your striker/latch plate. I almost knicked mine. I covered up my keyhole but I never use it so I didn't mind.

I'm sure I missed some of the details but a lot of the work was coming up with the parts list so I hope that at least benefits someone here.

I always wanted rear door mounted spare tyres carrier from the factory, these look beautiful. Did you have to use some type of braces from the inside to strengthen the sheet metal of C pillar?
My 105 have ladder steps on the C pillar from factory, and I am thinking of removing those and replacing it with this type of tyre carrier.

i've always liked this OEM design as well. It's awesome how the parts are actually available to us now

q1: did you have to leave the pass side reverse light out?
q2: are there "beauty covers" for the bolts on the side?
q3: how heavy is the whole setup?
q4: how do you like your Raptop liner paint job? I am considering doing this to my old beater Toyota truck, i need to do something to it. I just not sure how easy it is to keep clean, etc.

So I reinforced the pillar using angle iron. I have a structural engineer buddy who was confident that should be enough. It's very tight in there and that felt like the most strength I could get together aside from building a custom plate for the entire pillar that contours to all the curves. I bet you could build something nicer if you worked with a fabricator.

1. I'm still noodling ways to reinstall the right side inner reverse light but honestly you can't even see it with the tire in the way so I'm not in a hurry.

2. There are covers! I was too cheap to order them but if you check the schematic I linked in the post, you can get the part numbers for those covers.

3. I want to say the carrier plus parts is only about 20-30 lbs not including the tire.

4. I love the raptor liner paint job. I never really was one for washing my car but somehow the raptor liner stays even cleaner though I'm not sure if that's part of the color selection that I have but you really only need to rinse it off ever. I had it done pretty cheaply, about $3,000, but I will say that the liner that's on the plastic areas like the wheel wells got beat up with rocks pretty quick. The paint on metal though has been very strong and I'm sure it's 10,000 times better if you paid for a better job. I love it so much though

Adding this to my list of things to do. Thanks for the writeup
Highly recommend it. I think it looks great and you get to avoid using a trailer hitch mount or installing a whole fabricated bumper and it's much tighter to the car than all those options. I always hated how most tire carriers have a huge gain between the car and carrier.

Been thinking of doing something similar since I've done the same 'oem rear tire carrier' type job to my Isuzu. Looks great, and probably the best one by far in my opinion. How did you setup your angle iron on the inside of the panels - any photos you happen to have from installation?

It's a really tight fit inside the paneling, but I forgot thread locker on a few bolts and I'm going to apply it this weekend. I'll try to snap a few pictures for you and update the post.

Yeah, if you check out one of my pictures you can see the angle iron that I used to support the inside. It seems very strong and I talked to an engineer buddy of mine and he thinks it's plenty as long as the bolts are tight, have loctite on them, and a lock washer so that there's no way it's bouncing around tearing into the sheet metal

I have an OE tire carrier off a 2007 105 series if anyone is interested in giving this a go. No re-enforcement hardware etc but the carrier is in great shape.

The OEM lower mount re-enforcement part # is 51907-60070 . Just the top one you have to fab something up yourself.

Where are you located?
