Or you can buy one with already installed. Installation will add another 2-3 grands unless you are going to install it yourself.

Don't know where you're having your work done, but an older guy I know had one installed when they were still readily available at the local dealership, $85/hr rate then, for under $1k.

I saw the receipt from the PO of LX450 who did it at Lexus dealership.

Guess I know what I am going to do with my summer bonus! First I have to convince management:princess: that she does not need new tile in the back bathroom:bang::bang:

I called the TRD customer service line this morning and person I talked to was aware that a new batch of superchargers was coming but he was sure that it was just another production run of the old design, not a new design with the 7th injector. I don't know how much the phone guys are in the loop, but that is what I was told.

One more time...anyone have a part number for this bad boy? Or will my parts guy be able to look it up readily?

And...it looks like I'm going to buy my S/C before I even have the right 80/LX-450 in the garage!

This has moved to the very top of my list...I will have to check and see if I can get one of these in Hong Kong (no sales tax) or I will be placing my order with Dan. Holy Super Charger Batman...

One more time.........
It has not yet been released.

Please excuse these next naive questions and I do understand that these units have not been released yet. After all I am here to learn... But, how much does the 7th injector improve the performance over a standard SC? What does it do? Would anyone explain this to me.

Oh...sorry...got it...will wait for release info...thanks for the correction/clarification.

What an extra injecor does is richen the fuel mixture. Forced induction (it doesn't matter the method) increases the ammount of air going into the engine. In most cases the engine's original fuel mapping can not keep up with the extra air so the engine will run lean. The additional injector restores the balance. The trick is getting it to do it at the right time and in the proper ammount.

Dreamin' of a new supercharger

I've got a '95 with 103k miles. The HG was replaced about 3k miles ago. The head was machined but no work was done on the valves. The bottom end of the engine is all original.

So how tired is this motor and what's the risk of adding a supercharger?

About as good as you will find short of a complete overhaul. It sounds like a good candidate.

I see, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the explanation.

So from what I have read this should be somewhat easier on a '96 vehicle verses a '93 or '94. Also, it is matter of making the SC more efficient and not necessarily more power overall?

Dave

The 95-97 fuel metering is better than the 93-94.

If you are asking if the additional injector would allow more power to be produced the answer is yes.

The 7th injector thing doesn't make any sense to me. Blindly adding a 7th injector doesn't automatically make more power, it has to be metered properly and the 95+ trucks run rich to begin with when boosted.

It will be interesting to see what finally shows up. And if it does have a 7th injector I'd put a wide band on it for sure.

I would assume that is what you are doing with yours? (wide band) After reading your write-up. I have a lot of questions. Ultimately, I want the same thing as you and that is 400-450 reliable HP. Which brings the truck into the 15-16:1 power to weight ratio. BTW your manifold design rivals work I have seen first hand at Gale Banks FWIW... I have been flip flopping with regards to this issue. ( SC or Turbo ) The thing for me is I really like Off The Shelve items. When it comes to problems that arise and they do. Say on the trail or on the road. OTS is in some cases easier to service than custom items. For regular guys like me:hillbilly: who are by no means at your skill level.

Thanks for the compliment. When it comes to servicing either one of these options it comes down to the castings IMO. They're the one item that is not going to be easily replaced or fabricated if it's not on the shelf. The old SC had several of these and the 93/94 had some unique parts as well and from what I remember when the stock was gone they were gone. Dan can correct me if I'm wrong.

Any time you have a unique limited run of any part that can wear out you are subject to finding yourself without a replacement. On my system that 1 part is the manifold and with any manifold, cracking is a possibility. I personally will have a spare manifold in my garage even though I can obviously have more made up at any time. Just a good precaution.

There will be no 7th injector on the new one, it's only for 95~97 model years. It's virtually the same as what TRD sold previously for the 95~97.
