I've seen more than a few Grenadier review videos - interested. I test drove a Grenadier over the weekend and crawled all around it. A very friendly car to work on. I am not a dealer service guy as I have a lot less faith in the mechanics at the dealership than I do in a guy who owns his own garage/business. There are plenty of independent BMW mechanics all over the country as well as good 4x4 shops. If it breaks under warranty though, and can't be quickly remedied, that is FRUSTRATING and would be a deal breaker - nearby dealer or not.

It seems to me that Ineos did what all of the guys on this forum and other 4x4 forums have been crying out for - build a simple, bullet-proof, no-nonsense 4x4 like the old Defender or the old 70 series that you could thrash and then hose it out. Well, now folks seem to complain that the steering is not as precise as the electric steering in other modern cars because it is made to be durable and effective off-road. Doesn't have the creature comforts "at that price" that you would expect. Well, they spent the money on the frame and the axles, they installed an auxiliary battery and all of the electrics, they put in Recaro seats with a rugged upholstery, comes with steelies that everyone went bats**t crazy for on the new Defender, but are now seen as deficient on this vehicle. The thing is available triple locked. That it isn't perfect at roll-out is to be excused, but they got the main things right. If you bought a Rubicon and put 60's on it and a better steering box you would be well over Ineos pricing and you'd still be sitting in the uncomfortable Jeep seat with the in your face dash. I guess the point is they delivered and folks are upset that they can't spec it to be an LX.

I think Ineos is close, they opened in markets world wide in a short time frame which can't be easy. They will catch up to QC issues and sort their software for some of the minor annoyances. I am wait and see - units are on dealer lots now and in the car market in general, deals will soon be back to where they were. Paying sticker and god-forbid marked up pricing will cease to be a thing.

Sorry for the ramble, but I came here to talk about my experience and founds this thread and having read through, thought I'd make a few points.

was at Ineos dealer yesterday for about 3 hrs looking at vehicles.
Drove in the city and took it on the highway. Loved it.

Picked one that I liked and the salesman asked the manager for a price, the manager asked if I was buying today and I said no, so I was not given a price.

That’s not good business.

I work in the car business

Usually dealers are hesitant to give out a price because they think you will shop their price with other dealers. The weird thing is, Ineos has like 1 dealer for every like 3 states so it is weird they wouldn’t do that….

Next time you shouldn’t tell them you aren’t buying today because everyone involved will take you less seriously. Just tell them either yes or maybe if things line up right

Exactly,
Maybe things will line up. But without a price we’ll never know.
I hope the salesman is not on commission because his boss just screwed him on a chance of making a sale.
I was at Ft. Lauderdale, another dealer is located in Tampa

Florida is also the Wild West when it comes to extra fees they can add to vehicle prices. I’ve seen pictures of 2,000+ dollar doc fees so they also probably don’t want to scare you away, but they should have given you a price. I don’t get why some sales managers think people go to a car lot for fun and to not buy a car. Nobody willingly goes to a car lot for no reason. If you are there, you are probably buying something soon but weirdly enough, a lot of salesmen and sales managers who have been in the business a long time forget that

I hope they have staying power, prove to be reliable and have decent resale value as I'd like to pick one up for my daily in the next 3-4 years. It's far too early in the game here stateside unfortunately.

The people at Crown in St Pete are great. I have not heard of great things about your local dealer.

There are a few used ones down here too ,2-15k miles running about the same price.
I don’t need another car, I would have three then, but we have owned my 97 LX450 since 2000 and my wife’s 01 LX470 since 03.
Maybe I need a change.

I think others have indicated as to saying “you can buy today if the vehicle is right (hinting on sufficient test driving) and the price is right”.

Always consider that every step of the way at the dealership from the point you walk in and as to how you behave is a negotiation. The principles as how to approach this are probably well documented in YouTube vids. There are lots of do nots and some key does.

Like answering the question how much you want to spend per month on a car? Maybe not relevant here, however never answer that, just say “when the vehicle is right and the price is right I may buy”

Showing any real interest or showing you love the car. A poker face or an unhappy face works the best.

Start negotiating without trade in, then in the end ask when you are happy possible several hours later, what would they give for your car when you do trade in. They hate that, but you are the client and it is your money.

Go towards the end of the month when they try to make numbers and get factory incentives.

You may know all of this already. Good luck.

22 year old me and a friend absolutely would go test driving a couple times a year. We had time but no money, and liked cars. Luckily we lived in a metro area so we could just go to a different part of town each time, like card counters at a casino we would get turned away otherwise.
Fun FD Rx7 and 5.0 mustang test drives!

Obviously we weren’t hanging out for three hours. If you’ve been there that long, you’re a buyer and they should have a price.

A few things to consider when buying a car: a normal person who buys cars a lot and very frequently might do 30-40 cars deals in their life. A rookie car salesman can do 30-40 car deals in 3 months. An experienced salesperson has sold hundreds of cars and there is no amount of YouTube videos you watch that will outbeat a competent salesperson at the car buying process or negotiation on a car. That doesn’t mean you can’t win

Pretty much the only thing that leaving the trade until last will do is make the car deal last double the time it normally takes and negotiations leave everyone involved exhausted and annoyed and unhappy. The best thing you can do is to just get an appraisal at a local carmax and have that as a baseline of the value. They value cars pretty fairly because they are a one price store.

Have an idea what a reasonable discount is and do your research what similar cars usually go for. Don’t go in asking 20k off on a highly desirable car because nobody will take you seriously after that and you will probably get politely kicked out.

If you finance, you should get a preapproval from your bank and ask the dealership to beat it. If the car has special interest rate, get that.

That’s the basics to getting a pretty good deal and without causing a lot of conflict or stress. You won’t out negotiate the sales guys unless your job involves negotiating every day but you can come prepared and still win and get a good deal.

They could have had a buyer, well never know, but I got no price.
Don’t have a trade in either.

Most Ineos dealers are selling at MSRP. No haggling required. A Grenadier costs what it says on the tin. It is akin to pricing from Tesla, Rivian and Polestar. If that is a turn off then maybe a Grenadier is not in the cards.

Perfect. This is the best place to be. Wear them down and take hours of time. The more exhausted and unhappy things get the better. Also always be ready to walk out and possible do and wait for them to reach out to you. Indicate early on you are shopping for equivalent Y (or even Y and Z) of another brand(s). Make sure you know the details and price and value proposition of that/those vehicle(s) as well.

Eventually do not get carried with BS from the finance rep. Have had outrageous things seen happening when we bought a Tacoma at a carmax type place and the sales person was coming up with a monthly based on the interest rate which was $150 over what it should be. The quick way there top of your head, beside and amortization schedule looked up on your phone, is to take the loan amount dived by the number of months + interest times the loan amount divided by 12. The guy claimed when I asked how this could be and looked up on my phone that the amortization schedule was not relevant, only for home mortgages. I mean what a total crook. Anyways, the vehicle was in great shape, one owner, no accidents, at 20k miles (extensive test drive) and at a very good price, so I decided to be patient with the finance dude (thief) and walk out with the deal and monthly which was right. He obviously removed various charges for dealer packages and extended warranty in the process. This was pre 2021, when the dealers were still semi normal.

Regardless a great deal should be had on these Ineos Grenadiers. The lots are full of them and folk are not buying them or selling them again after a couple of months (tons of low mileage second hands are out there).

Yep, the lot here in Houston has over 100, I see very few on the streets and I am seeing them selling lightly used. I will not pay sticker for one new, I will wait until they start to discount them which is coming. The Quarter Master will take some of the spotlight away from the Grenadier as well which should incentivize them further.

I actually once had a sales person indicate he was not happy (i get it as i had taken hours of his time) and I smiled for the first time that afternoon and told him I thoroughly enjoy buying a car. I loved that moment. Stick it to them. It is your hard-earned money. Perfect place and sales person to make the final right deal.

Bottomline be ready to wear them down as they often will budge to get you out and move on to another client. Throwing the trade in at the end is part of that game.

Do it yourself without spouse or kids. IMO with those around there is no real good deal to be had.

Note that I always stay polite and not say tons of things, only the key things to get there. Of course no shouting match or you will look silly.

Stay on the high ground from start to finish. Also do not show to much joy when the deal is right. No need to make them feel any worse.

I am going to wait for a while !

Unless a good deal shows up🤭

I just purchased a brand new 2024 for $8k under MSRP. I planned to pay cash but took the 2.9% interest offer they currently have since I can make 5-6% on those same funds. As soon as I can't, I'll just pay it off. Win win. Dealers are hurting right now, take them for all they're willing to give and feel happy about it. They've been screwing consumers over royally for the last 3-4 years.
