hi all,

broad question:

just wondering how challenging/expensive/time-consuming/impossible it is to increase the horsepower of a 91?

thanks in advance,
jason

2FE?

I have the secret desire to grab a 91 or 92 and build a 2FE with a stick. Pretty involved though.

I've read that putting an H55 transmission behind the 3FE really wakes it up. It might be worth going that route than spending a lot of money to gain a little bit of HP.

Turbo

Lose weight- dropping 500lbs is like adding 30hp. (Free)
- delete sunroof assy.
- delete 2cnd / 3rd row seats
- smaller battery
- delete A/C if you dont use it
- smaller tires
- delete sway bars front and rear and use firmer springs
- delete spare tire- and spare tire assembly- get AAA
- delete hitch
- delete 2cnd/3rd row belts and all associated cargo hardware
- delete radio/ amps/ speakers
- change to plastic headlights
- change glass to lexan in 2cnd and cargo and rear hatch.

gearing- rubber underdrive ( im rocking 225's on my DD and its fast and looks stupid) (Free) :steer:

The short answer is: No.

The long answer is similar to above. The topic is covered pretty well in the forums.

Desmog
Baseline / Tune up
exhaust
gearing

Other than that, there are no simple options for the 3fe. Learn to love it though..

There is at least one person here with a turbo 3FE, isn't there?

Maybe I'm misremembering... :meh:

Pulling the auto tranny will really being the 3fe to life. Gearing is decent if you go with the H42 and its cheap but an H55 would be nice on those long freeway rides. My next step will be the 2fe unless funds open up and I can afford the h55.

Has anyone bored their throttle body with the exhaust upgrade?
