Hi I have searched and cant find the answer to my question. I have a set of solid axle mini hubs that I am planing to put on my cruiser when I do my disk brake conversion but one got some water in it at one point and has some damage on the spring and lockout mechanism. The gears are fine. I was at the wrecking yard today and saw a ifs truck with asin hubs on it. Are the mechanisms the same? I know the gear that slides on and off the brif is different but that part is fine on the one I have.

You mean you want to know if you can use the IFS spring(s) and follower pawl in the non-IFS Aisin hub? yes. You can also use the face (dial and ring) from the IFS truck, or from a Samurai without issue. The dial from a Montero is different.

The only parts I would not interchange would be the bit that mates to the birfield. Note that it does not slide on and off the birfield. That bit is permanently mated to the birf, and spins inside the lockout body anytime the birf turns, but the lockout hub is not engaged (which should be never, but I'm sure there's an exception).

Thanks Dan. Yeah it is the springs and follower paul that are messed up on mine. I will pull those parts as well as the dial face. I have learned since I first posted that the housings do not interchange unless you also get the conversion gear from bobby long. I was unsure if that gear was the same as a stock solid axle one only cromo but I learned on pirate that it is not.

Can you explain;
I always thougth that you can swap the 30 spline gear in place of the 26 spline gear and use the whole thing on the solid axle hubs.
So what is the problem?

No it seems that if you swap the 30 spline gear for the 26 spline you can't fit the c-clip on the end of the birf.
