Hi I want to swap my dead b engine with an ls1 v8 but I can't figure out if the arca ce adapters is suitable for the h42 gearbox of the b engine

No clue. Have you ask the adapter manufacture? There is a diesel section here somewhere.
Price wise maybe get a 5/6 speed manual to bolt and adapt the transfer case or get a chevy one too.

I am going to guess the trans won't work
AFAIK the adaptors made in the US are made to work with gas trans, the input shaft on the B trans is very different than the gas version
an H trans has the same input as a gas trans
if you know what trans you have, H41 or H42, you could source an appropriate input shaft and swap it
another option would be to use a trans that came with the LS and adapt to the transfer

Pupoo,

I note you're in Italy so I'm not sure how familiar you are with the GM LS engine family. LS1 refers to a specific engine. It was the first in the series and was originally installed in Corvettes. It has an aluminum block and aluminum cylinder heads. There have been many variations featuring different materials, displacements, etc. Many people will call a 5.3L LS engine an LS1, but it's not. I'm assuming you're considering a no-kidding LS1....

One (of the many) advantages of an LS swap is the engine produces a lot of torque. While I'm not familiar with the gear ratios on your specific transmission, the power of the LS engine allows you to run a pretty hefty overdrive gear. By using a non-overdrive transmission you're giving up a great feature of the LS engine.

Yes, I know the B engine was different, but my understanding is a stock Toyota 2F engine produced a peak torque of 200 foot pounds at 1,800 RPM. A 2F weighs 630 pounds.

Conversely, an LS1 produces 280 foot pounds at only 1,000 RPM, and at that same 1,800 RPM, it makes about 320 foot pounds. An LS1 weighs 430 pounds. That's 200 pounds LESS than a 2F!

A great many members of the forum love the 2F... I'm not one of them.

Awww :( RIP diesel.. no chance of a revival?
