What‘s gonna happen to the garbage motor? Asking for a neighbor that is wanting a metal sculpture.

If you want it it's at Brian's right now. Plan is to scrap it tomorrow.

So you're gonna practice your ls swap on Al's truck with his money? Lol
I vote for this option lol

Yeah plan right now is to leave it at Brian's

Going to get a LS when I get back and figure out what power level I want (most likely just 400). Get it to that then figure out what trans I want. 4L80E would be the cheapest and easiest option while being super reliable. 1st gear isn't anything to write home about though. Next option would be a 6L80E, a little more pricey and there is currently only one company that does stand alone controllers for it but has a great low first gear and a tall .68 6th gear.
Then all the rest of the crap.

Get it shipped to my brothers in Idaho or I may persuade @GarnerFJ40 to tow it out that way for a visit next year ;)

Plan was to get it running or close to running with the 2fe but after all the issues and the only remaining way to get the needed parts off of the 3fe for the swap was to plasma cut the back half of the crank off I was starting to run out of time to realistically get that done when I add in time to wire up the stand alone and get that running right. On top of that I wasn't sure if the gas from 2 years ago would be any good even with the stabilizer I threw in it, and the A440 trans and the tcase needed some new gaskets and seals, and the front axle would need a rebuild before driving much and brakes done etc.... it just added up to too much and with the motor and trans out I just made the game time decision to go with a LS swap.

2fe and turbo kit will most likely end up in Brians Green 40..... Turbo kit may not fit in that body though so that may be thrown up for grabs at some point.

Right now the 80 is looking pretty under the Keefer's Oak tree.

Kenny came up yesterday for putting the cruiser "back together". Mostly we let Lily put the headlights, grill, hood latch, swaybar and aircleaner back in while we supervised and talked, yay free child labor lol.

Then we split the trans from the tcase since that is all i'll need for the swap and loaded up Eric's trailer with the 80 and the junk block and other parts to take to Brians.

After that we met Ramon and Emma at Aviator for some much needed brews and catching up and then to take Dozer for a spin. That stock 6.0 is more than enough power for that short wheelbase for sure. Thanks again for letting me drive it. @mtweller

So thanks again to @roflbox @lumbee1 and @alk747triodad for the hand turning the wrenches. A huge thanks to @fourtrax for hosting this, storing the cruiser for 5 months and providing more expertise and knowlege than the rest of us combind. And a huge thanks to @GarnerFJ40 for hosting me and picking me up/dropping me off at the airport and letting me play softball mom with the girls for all their games and practices ;)

I'll also have some new and some of the salvagable 3fe parts to give away that i'll post up in the sale section after I take some pictures of them later. Don't want anything for them just give Brian some beer when you grab them from his house. I forced some parts on Kenny also but if he doesn't want them he may post them up aswell.

Thanks for coming on Saturday, it was great to see you again.

Great seeing you Sunday Al! Wish I could have made it Saturday but then I would have missed the fantastic dinner and beers we had with the Wellers and Keefers at Aviator. Have a safe flight home and I can't wait until the next time we see each other.

Here is a few pics I got of the day.

May have found the new motor down the street from me

scammer alway scamming. might find a local pick-a-part and go pull one

Looks like I'm picking up a l83 LT EcoTech 5.3 on Friday.
Couldn't find a good day where I could get help and pull and old lm7 from a local yard. Couldn't find any lq4 or lq9s in a yard amd didn't evem.try looking for a ls2 or ls3. Did find a few ls4s but they have a few differences being they are transverse engines.

This one was replaced under warranty at 80k due to AFM DOD lifter issues. Guy had already had both banks replaced and then the left bank and then brought it back in. Most of the time it's just ticking but it can lead to stuck lifters and GM will replace the entire engine for a good standing customer that persists.
So it's missing the direct injectors and all the ancillaries but I got a good deal on it since the guy is in the middle of nowhere WA. He's had issues with getting g people to look at it since it's a haul to drive there and full of icy roads in the winter. Luckily he's only an hour and 20 minutes from my bros place in the middle of nowhere idaho. Even better is I have a job inspection 30 minutes from my brother's I'm going to this weekend so I can charge the pickup rental to get the motor.to the cost of the job.
Best part is after I do the DOD delete to take care of the lifter issue and upgrade the cam with a good spec non DOD unit ill be around 400HP and 440 TQ. Plus a 6l80e will communicate with the stock ecu, when I pick one up. 4.11 first and .66 6th gear will be nice.

I may port and polish the heads and clean the intake valves also since that is also an issue with DI motors.

Downside is not many people have done the Gen V motors yet so there isn't as much documented information for me to rely on.
No bolt in motor mounts but for the 3fe 80s.there aren't any for the Gen III or IV either so not a huge issue.

Put a deposit through PayPal so hopefully it's there when I get there this time lol.

Got my L83 and stopped for a beer at Bale Breakers right in the heart of Hop country. It's after harvest but before that all of Nob Hill smells like one big IPA.

So small update. I still have the l83 waiting for me to pull apart and do the dod kit. But I stumbled upon a deal on a l84 and 8l90E trans for such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. 21k on this combo

Going to grab some beers with Tor next week and pick up his LT swap kit. Ill have to weld in the FZJ80 frame mounts for the 1fze since it works off of that. Other than that it makes all the GM stuff work with the toyota stuff including the stock shifter.

Most likely not going to do anything to the motor as it is so low miles, will just do a good tune, headers and a DOD deactivation tune since all the lifters still work fine and doesn't need a delete kit. Will get an upgraded TQ converter for the 8l trans and down the line will do an upgraded valve body, but I can do that after the trans is installed.
Going to do 3:1 T-case gears in my old case and rebuild it at the same time. Then it will be ready to drop in the 80 and i'll have a custome harness made for it.

@GLTHFJ60 is there anyway to merge this thread with this one

I know woody can do it but not sure if admins in here can also.

if you can throw that entire thread into this one behind post # 153

If not let me know and i'll shoot Woody a message.
