I haven't been on any social media or watched/read/discussed/listened to any news or current events since Jan 6th 2021. At all.

So now I'm thinking about selling a vehicle and have poked my head back into the world. And I am confused! There's no rational explanation for the prices of things. I mean, sure, I know a decent hamburger is now $20 and the decentest burger at McDonald's is $12. But what I thought I'd be lucky to get 10 - 12K for is going for its weight in gold on FB marketplace and in the classified section of Mud! Have we all gone mad?!

This is a rhetorical post... No need to respond. I love everybody, but you're all probably lunatics!🤯:flipoff2:🩵

Not sure what vehicle you are speaking of that is worth its weight in gold, but used Land Cruiser prices have actually come down substantially from their peak in 2020 - 2021. Gold price has skyrocketed though. I wish I had sold a few Land Cruisers in 2020 and bought gold.

Definitely prices are down compared to the Covid era skyrocketing prices of collector vehicles. It’s actually a good time to buy but not to sell.

The prices have come down a bit but the prices of cruisers have always been crazy. They entered the yuppie spectrum a while back and the prices have been ridiculous ever since. Its the same thing that happened to muscle cars around the millenium. I used to buy and sell those things in my senior year and early college years by working at a pizza place for minimum wage. Then they became the next yuppie classic and soon you have them breaking $1 million marks at auctions. That's my 2cents recently inflated to 2 bucks.

Actually, I was looking at what Tacomas are going for. People are trying to get upwards of $20 - 25K for 10 year old trucks. I was going to list my 2012 for $12K but now I'm not so sure. I wasn't trying to make a sales post so I was purposely vague. It was also the middle of the night and the beer was all gone.

Newer cars are definitely crazy priced these days.

Yes they are. Don't get me started about Toyota's promise of a $50k Land Cruiser that turned out to be an $80k 4Runner in disguise. Apparently Japan has gone just as mad as the rest of the world.

Compare the sticker price of an 80 series in the late 90s, adjusted for inflation, to a new cruiser today. Not very far off. Inflation is a bitch.

No sense in complaining about the new prices anyway, none of us are new car people, lol.
