If you could paint your 40 any color what would it be?

Well, mine is OEM Capri Blue, which is my third favorite FJ40 color.

Because I'm into hunting and camping, I think colors like Dune Beige and the older dark Forest Green look nice.

I'm probably one of the few who likes Sea Foam Green, too. For a non-OEM color I like the Willow Green that Robert LaDuke posted.

But if I ever had to repaint mine, I'd probably stick with the original color, though I've always wanted to paint an offroad vehicle in a zebra scheme. I remember watching the movie Hatari and the tv series daktari as a kid, and always wanted a zebra painted truck. There's even a thread here about zebra paint schemes:

My plan was for Dune Beige or a similar Khaki with a little green and gray tinted in. When I got to the paint shop and thumbed through the color charts this one jumped off the page at me. I had no intent of doing a metallic but i love it. It gets more attention than I figured on, though. One guy followed me home to tell me to sell it to him. I stuck around the house a few days after that.

My friend had that same Smurf Blue on his 85 Toyota Truck. We used to call it Smurf s*** Blue.

A few words of caution about going with a flat like a rat rod. I was going to paint my Hot Rod Flatz Gunsmoke Metallic. HRF 278 - Gun Smoke Metallic However after doing a search on it on the web, a lot of hot rod websites said that flat colors are nothing but trouble as any oil that you spill on it will never come out because of a lack of a clearcoat on top. Also the single stage paints like the one above are nothing but premixed repackaged PPG low grade paints to be used in industrial repainting. Any single stage paints are to be avoided as they never lay out like you expect them too. I love the way that Gunsmoke Metallic looks and will probably still get it painted that color, but I am going to go to a jobber paint shop and get a 2 stage paint system and have them match that color. But that is a ways off.

I like the Red, Mustard, or a Green...

I'm about to go with primer grey for awhile. Did not expect the mustard yellow to grow on me like it did. Next time I'm leaning towards something alittle different like the peweter/ gun metal grey with a blue tint , I think it was a old land rover color .Sorry could not find the pic's but it was talked obout a few moths ago on here.I have faith that someone remembers the color and knows where the pic is.

Two Tone is the only way...

There are some outstanding rides in this thread!!! I can not begin to say what color is my fav. Great job all... The Black rig with the extended rear end may be the one that tips the scale. It is beautiful!!!

My 40 is Plum, but that may change in the future...

My favorites. Nordic blue with white, mustard yellow and John Deere green (can't remember the code) this is the oem color for mine and I can't make up my mind between the three.
DO NOT PAINT THIS TRUCK PURPLE, WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!!! My stomach turned in the 80's and 90's watching so many beautiful old cars being painted purple and teal. I hope I never live through another fad like that again.

Have fun with your color choice and good luck with your project.
