I have a 1979 FJ-55 with about 24,000 original miles on it. It's Smurf blue/white. It was my father's and all we did was hunt quail in it. Other than that, it never let the barn. He can't hunt anymore, so I'm going to sell it for him. I haven't cleaned it up yet, so only a couple pics from the day we loaded it up to move it. Any ideas of what to ask and where to post it?

as far as selling it, ebay and craigslist seem to work fine for me. the more info & pics you have about the condition of the truck the more you will get for it...but from looking at the 3 pics you posted you should do okay. typically these have rust issues in rear quarters, fenders, rockers and drip rails. lots of pics of those areas. have a pic of the vin and the id tag showing specs as well. any maintenance records help too.....I hope it sells for $1 million...it will raise all the values of our Piggies.

Two reference points for my estimate:

1. '79 in the Boise area w/air con and PS, 75k miles - on Craiglist for $25,500 and not selling.
2. '76 in central PA with 42k miles - asking $42,500. Beautiful example...not selling.

As a member of the Pig Asylum I love these things...but they're not yielding anywhere near the fj40 prices.

GLWS...hope it goes to a good home in the club piggy. Ask $30k...see what happens.

does it have power steering and a/c ?

These will make a significant difference! If yes, take lots of pictures of these systems under the hood. Take pics of the rust-prone areas; bottom of front fenders, bottom of quarters, rain gutters, inside floors, etc. More pics of the interior as well.
