Not mine, just posting for reference. I drove all night from CO to Idaho for this one, it was listed for $2500 and I was all over it. Then the guy calls back and says people are offering him $10k plus for it, sight unseen. Well I saw it and $2500 is the right price, he was stuck on $10k, we parted ways. Soggy truck, wet, moldy and rusty. Lots of things taken apart and pieces missing. The search continues...

Just a thought… looks like there is support structure for the roof on these 45LVs, so the roof doesn’t carry any body bending load, correct? If so, given that some semblance of roof is there that maybe a good boat builder could template it and make a skookum fiberglass roof.
Or…..just cut the roof off and call it LVertiable 2! :p

I'm catching up on this thread and combing through the pictures.

This LV is going to need a mountain of metal work. Anything is fixable but....:wtf:

I am still counting how many different colors that poor ole gals been painted over the years

I always believed there were more 45LV's sold in the US than most people thought there were.

Did someone end up getting it.

Looks like it just popped back up on Craigslist. Same owner still and back to $2500. If he will actually take that amount for it, its probably worth it.

I ended up buying it a few weeks ago for $2000. It was a good price for what was there. I have a lot of 40s and have been searching for a long time for an LV.

Also…if anyone can help me. This LV had no title. Others said it is a 63 but seems to fall in line with numbers I have seen for a 65. FJ 23234. Any knowledge on this would help. I know the motor is not original…F155.

Actually it says FJ45 23434

Nice one! Congrats, you did well to get that for $2k. Good to hear the owner came to his senses over the deal. Also glad this one got saved by a fellow mudder, it's life is on the upswing.

it may have been born in 1965 but most likely not sold until 1966 that is the brass tag.

apparently the PO's offers of $10,000 sight unseen never materialized

Goes to show how big of a role timing plays when making a deal. I must have pissed that guy off good when I was trying to bring him back down to earth from his $10k fantasies. I reluctantly offered him $4k that day, but he wanted to hold for some phantom on the phone. When I saw it reposted on CL, I had already gone in really deep on a different one. So glad I didn't pay 4k that day, but even happier that you got it for 2k. Really well done.

Steve, others may not have been as nice as you. Personally i would have been out of my mind livid if I drove that far and guy pulled the same crap. I bet he was told in a few different ways he was out of his mind or good luck after jacking the price up.
Glad someone got it off his property where it was rotting.

That was pretty crazy. I had no idea if you doing this until after I bought it. When I saw this post it made no sense that he was holding out for 10 and wouldn’t take the 4….because he seemed like he just wanted it gone when I got there. Big problem was that all 4 wheels were frozen but I worked it out. I would have been a little upset too if I came all that way under the notion he would keep his word! Thanks for the help on the year…that’s what I was hoping to here.

original posting was 2 months ago and with winter coming and no big payday, he settled back down to earth.

All I can say is most of you mudders see a piece of scrap metal with some form to it that will take MANY thousands of dollars to pay someone else to bring it back to life or you'll be spending the rest of every vacation until you retire to bring it back to life. Mtntopper seems like the only one that isn't seeing through rose-colored lenses. Just MHO. :)

What some people call "scrap metal" other's call "rusty gold". I was going to further explain but it's not worth it.

If you don't get it....then you'll never get it. Enjoy your vacation. Like many other mudders, I'll be in the garage.

You definitely have to have owned one to understand. If you don’t enjoy working on your cruiser then no, a 45LV is definitely not for you!! This one is really rough, but not beyond saving. The hard to find parts are mostly there. But the body work will either take a lot of $$ at a body shop or someone (like Pete!) with the desire to do it himself without feeling rushed. The value of these seems to be climbing steadily too which helps. 10 years ago this would have been a great parts truck, but nowadays who knows.

Although I will say, of all the ones to come up for sale recently this is the most overpriced probably but nothing surprises me anymore.
