i have a 3yo and 7yo that get in no problem without running boards and a ~2" lift and taller tires. kids get creative. the map pocket on the door makes a good handle.

I kinda like the running boards actually. But like you said I am sure they would find a way. I am actually not all that pleased with the lack of room in the 2nd row. I am 6'2" so my seat is all the way back, and with the Recaro car seats in there the kids feet easily hit the back of the front seats. I almost feel like there is less room than my 02 CRV, and wayyyyy less room in than the wife's Sienna.
A Sienna is over a foot longer than a GX470, so that doesn't surprise me all that much. The CRV does surprise me, though.

Well maybe you have midget legs? I thought I read that the GX has better leg room in the 2nd row than the LX, so I am glad I passed up the LX. I thought for sure I was missing something when I couldn't slide the 2nd row fore/aft. But they are fixed position, bummer.
It could just take some time. I remember when I first got the 80 Series I had the seat all the way back but over time I ended up moving it forward a couple of inches. Just need to get used to the difference in seat elevation. I came from a Chevy S-10 that sat pretty low to the LC that sat higher.
The LX is a nicer everyday vehicle. You will be glad you got it. I have had three now and I just bought the 02 LC for my toy last month. We traded our 04 LC 100 off for the 570. After 6 months, I just had to have another LC in the driveway. The LX is amazing in every way but it is most certainly for my wife. I would put a set of flat black wheels on it, a cattle guard on the front, and some 285's for and it will be a stealth lux ride. In fact you could always de-badge it. If you still have chick car issues, then buy Vette for sunny days.
opps just realized you have a GX. Very nice ride as well. I love the Prado emblems on some of the other posts. The GX is by far a better ride and NVH than the 4Runner sibling. I found a really nice 2006 with 130k a while back that I am trying to convince a good friend to purchase. Great value. Enjoy!
