Well, I am happy to say I just bought a very well kept 07 White, Non-KDSS, ML, w/ RES. The previous owner/s did everything required at Lexus. Recent ones were new battery/alt, new front Shocks (almost $800 :(), TB/WB all done. She only has 128k on it, and I have already had a few people ask if it was a brand new truck.

So far I like it a lot. I am coming from a 2002 Honda CRV w/ 190k, and the 2 hr ride home from picking this up sold me right away on Lexus. Man, this thing is solid, quiet, and a very different feel than the CRV. It does feel a little top heavy when going over changes in the road which get the truck moving laterally (rocking back and forth), and I am guessing that is where the KDSS would shine, as well as cornering.

Only things I am not all that happy with are the lack of storage in the drivers area for things like phones, wallet, etc. I plan to either use a RAM mount for the phone, but will have to get creative with a trash bin solution, as well as a place to store the kids snacks. What really surprised me was the read quarter window operation being manual. Our Sienna LE is manual, which I understand based on price point, but a LEXUS!! The truck came with Husky mats which were in a pile with the other mats at the dealership, but as I put them in place this morning I realized there is not DS mat...wtf? I am also not seeing the lug nut key anywhere in the truck.

The Rossen RES is kinda clunky to operate so far also, but I am hoping there is just a learning curve and it will get better.

As I was looking at it parked on the road and admiring my hours worth spit shinning last night, I couldn't help but think I just bought a chick truck, or maybe even a :censor: truck. I know this might get blood pressures up w/ some people, but to me it just has a powder puff look to it...and I guess it was kinda designed to be a powder puff truck really. When we were buying it two woman came to buy the truck also, and the second woman actually asked if I was buying this for the wife.

Also, the "Lexus phenomenon" is something I will have to get used to. Lots more looks from other motorists, as well as people saying "WHAT...YOU GOT A LEXUS, D@MN", w/o realizing it was less than $15k. :p

I am going to have to look at some mods that will add a masculine feel to this rig. I will be doing very few off pavement activities and put on a fair amount of miles per year, so aggressive rubber and lift will be out of the question. But I am really liking the look of a few different wheels (TRD PRO, Pro Comp 40 series Vertigo, Blackrock Type D). I also drive through Whitetail heaven on a daily basis, and would be looking for a deer slayer that isn't just show and maybe doesn't hurt the wallet @ $1,200.

Easy to man up. Even at the car wash with a latte :)

Congrats, I'm sure you will learn to embrace the "Chick truck" part of it in days to come.. :flipoff2:

To Man it up you could buy a vinyl mustache! And some truck nuts! Just saying it's the manliest mods!

First step to Man up that is free is to ditch the running boards.

Then you could plasti-dip some of the chrome parts.

Some TRD wheels

But the ultimate is a snorkel, everyone knows chicks dig the snorkel!

You will be fine. I don't think chick trucks win fourwheeler.com's 4X4 of the year two years in a row very often.

I think the word you are looking for is "sleeper" :P

Running boards will stay, I have a 5 & 3yo that actually use them to get in and out of the truck.

Not much chrome on the truck, only the front grill. I plan to find a nice bronze-ish colored paint for the grill though.

I do like the look of the TRD wheels, and like really like the fact they are from Toyota.

I have received a lot of s*** for buying a Lexus though, from both family and friends. I didn't know there was such a stigma associated with being a Lexus owner. My dad had a good point though, I think I might have ruined the chance at buying a "cheaper" vehicle in the future after owning this truck. Too bad Lexus hasn't made a mini-van, otherwise the wife might be trading in for the Lexus equivalent.

My wife, after a year, still cannot believe I bought a Lexus. Understand this is not my first 4x4. Owned an FJ40 for over 10 years and drove/wheeled all over the west coast, owned several FJ80's, FJ55, etc.; however, after reading the article on the GX470 owned by Dan Kunz in Toyota4wd Owner magazine, I was hooked. Leather interior, v-8, plenty of interior space, yet small enough to go anywhere off road - what more could one ask for in a 4x4. Once lifted, it will find more trails to explore. This is my hunting, exploring, dog hauling, adventure rig. Plus, there is more interior space than an FJ Cruiser!

Let no one give you grief about the choice of a Lexus! Simply enjoy!

After realizing any GX was 99% LC for about 2/3rds the price, I was totally okay with the stigma of being an a-hole in a Lexus.

I get snotty looks from neighbors and grief from friends all the time.

Little do they realize I'm still proudly rocking a $10 tape cassette converter!

(I'd be jealous too if I threw away $30,000 on a Nissan Rogue)

Any idea if a Toyota badge will fit correctly in place of the Lexus badge on the grill and rear door? :D

Maybe I will 3d print a "LX4Runner" badge too, really confuse the s*** out of people.

Cover up Lexus badge with giant spare tire? Seems like an expensive solution! Plus it would not play well with my bike rack.

Did it come with a complementary pair of UGGs in the cargo area? Can you even...?
