well i was making a 2 1/2 hour trip yesterday and about 20min into it i found my 60 puttering and loosing speed, i pulled over on the freeway and she just died. i tried to start her up and nothing, only a tic from the starter, at first i thought lost my alt. and drained my battery but then i found no oil on my dip stick so i think shes done. anybody have any for sure way to find out if its siezed or not without taking the head off. i tried the inspection cover to see if i can turn the flywheel but there are stripped bolt(thanx P.O.) well any help from LC lovers would help thanx in advance

Get a wrench on the crankshaft pulley on the front or click it into 1st if its a standard and rock it while watching the pulleys

Good luck
Geoff

Take off the oil pan and take a look..

have faith. Lots of things to look at first. Try moving the crank. Also add oil until you are at the dipstick and see how much goes in.

Could still have a drained battery, try a boost. But be careful not to try too much. If there is internal damage you don't want to over load the starter till it burns or anything......

just put it in 1st gear and try and push it by hand. it's not going to rolling off on it's own, but you should be able to turn the motor over by doing so. you can just put your back agianst it and lean in to it and it'll go, one cylinder at a time. if you can't move it like that......she's seized....

Yeah, but try 4th gear, not 1st..

You will never push a 60 in 1st gear..

You could put it in 4th gear and try giving it a little tug with another truck. Easier to use a different truck than your own back ;)

But, the loss of power, and sputtering, sounds like you burned up either a rod or main. I am thinkin main..

dum dum da dum

shes gone! i tried to push start it and found that it locked up so i think the motors done for, and no oil was leaking out or was i burning out the tail pipe all seemed normal until it happened, sorry if i dissapointed you with "poor maintence" and thanx to every one for the input, now its time to rebuild the 2f or maybe a 3f?

Unless you find an entire 62 for cheap, rebuild the 2F or find a good runner to swap into it.

It sounds like you've got the answer but if you want to make it easier on yourself then do what Brownbear suggests. Mark the plug wires and pull the spark plugs. This will eliminate engine compression. Try cranking the motor at the crank pulley by hand; the F engine (and 2F I think) have a manual engine crank dog clutch in the pulley.

I'd encourage you to check cruiserparts.net for a used 2F - good prices and good service (that is unless you are fixin' to rebuild your current 2F).
Best of luck!

yeah im going to rebuild the motor and in the process i think ill go fuel injected, but is the a rebuild kit or should i piece it out part by part to rebuild?
