Ok what did I do? I just did the 7 pin mod and now my cruiser wont get out of park??? Am I retarded or what is the deal? Please help.

did you blow a fuse muckin' around in there?

that wasnt it..all the fuses are good.
I did however take out a bunch of wires while i took the front seat out (it had a phone thing hooked up under the front seat and i did not have the phone) so I took all the wires out. Anyway, I did take the little black with blue line wire out as per the slee sight photo so im at a loss here. Any more suggestions??

you have either blown your brakelight fuse (in the dash) or interupted that circuit. If not the fuse the Elect Wire Diags at the back of the FSM will help you figure out what you may have messed with.

In the interim you can use the manual shift override on the console but you still have no brake lights.

Bummer.

I think "WSDAVIES" had a similar problem just 3 or 4 days ago (it was discussed in chat).

Not to hijack....but am I to understand that if a tail-light bulb burns out that I will not be able to shift out of park unless I manually override it, or are we talking about a condition that causes the fuse to blow?

In your case, I agree with Semlin....that you have somehow interrupted the circuit (if neither brake light is working) and they were both functioning prior to you working on the vehicle.

correct. If you cannot shift out of park, and no brake lights, it has to be the fuse. Replace it anyways and see what happens.

holy crap!! I just figured it out! I checked the brake fuse and it was good, BUT there was some stuff hooked up to that fuse (the phone stuff) so when I took it out, it expaned the metal things that hold the fuse in, soooooo the fuse wasnt actually getting connection. So I pushed them closer together and put the fuse back in and WA LAAA it works. I took it in some dirt and tested out the new set up.. Damn sweet!!! I like the way I can put in 4 low without the whole thing being locked up. Thank you again to everyone, this site just has proven again how you all know your stuff! Thanks again, Chans

ps now im going to a nice cold beer.

Yeh, I'm interested to know if that's true also. Most vehicles when you loose a tail light, I thought you get a quicky turn signal indicator light.

So how do you manually overide to get out of park anyways?

Thanks,

O.K., let me put it a different way. If my fuse is good BUT a bulb is burned out will I be stuck in park?

I understand that if a condition exists that causes the fuse to blow I'm stuck.

But it sounds like it is being suggested that even a burned out bulb will cause the same condition. True or False.

Thanks.

There is an override button in front of the tranny shifter.

True or False.

False. Fuse=Shifter Locked. Bulb=Shifter not locked.

Thank you kind Sir!

Okay, I feel like I just fell off a turnip truck here, but me no see no extra button in front of the tranny shifter.

Pop that little square plug out.

Guess I stand corrected

You were not corrected; just ignored. Everyone knows an answer from you must be confirmed by me before they can really believe the answer.

:flipoff2:

From section 4 of your owner's manual. You do have an owner's manual don't you?

(P.S. I'm just slower than you today.)

Maybe we should have a poll of how many people have read their owners manual?

I know some folks consider reading it a little :princess: but there is some good info in there.
