I was working on a customers early harness this past weekend and he had a bad horn relay socket and a bad relay. I replaced the horn relay socket and was looking around for an old style relay to test with. I knew I had one but for the life of me could not locate it. I quickly just soldered up a light bulb to plug in to get the testing done.

Later I got to thinking about the relay and decided to order one. I searched and found that a Toyota car horn relay was available but you had to re-pin the socket as that relay is wired differently. I do not like re-wiring connectors as later on someone may find the "correct" part and now think somethings broken. So.... I came up with this:

This is simply a standard 20 amp relay and socket, that is adapted to plug into the OEM early three terminal horn relay female socket connector. No mods needed to the OEM wiring, so if a source for the OEM style is ever found, you simply unplug this adapter and plug the OEM relay back in!

Don't know why I did not think of this before. I tried it on the customers harness with two horns connected and it works perfectly. Now available on the web site under Misc Harness adapters, bottom of page. :D

Your 77 may not have a horn relay if it's the later 77. From late 77 on the horn switch handles the entire current load. Don't know why Toyota did this...
