Nice work on the rig. My opinion on heater t's on a newly purchased 100 series has changed. I used to just think "inspect visually" and move on. After seeing what they can look like once the hoses have been pulled back has swung my opinion to swap them out as part of the initial baselining of the vehicle upon purchase. Aside from rust, the heater t's are the Achilles heel of these trucks. Anyway, just saying, don't assume they are fine because there is a worm clamp and the visible plastic looks fine. What lurks underneath could be baaaaaaaaad.

I agree. I have two brass ones coming. 5/8" if I recall.

This, mine looked fine and I thought you guys were all overreacting. When I decided one day to just pull back the hose and inspect further that then thing just fell apart. It could’ve ruptured any minute and overheat my truck on a road trip. They’re $20 for the pair, takes 10 minutes to do, do it.

My suggestion to all on the carpet is ditch it and go to Truk Rug. I did a write up where I used a plastic liner with a soft undercoat used in truck beds and dyed all my trim pieces. There is no good reason to have carpet in the back of any SUV. In my humble opinion, of course. If you got brand new carpet tomorrow, you'd soak it the day after that in something. Water, beer, soft drink, etc.

Congratulations on the purchase, I wouldn't have blinked, I think all your fixed are very straightforward, just a matter of undoing some bad prior owner decisions.

Hit me up if you want to talk LC interiors, mine is 180 different from the day I took mine home!

Do you have a link to your write up? Sounds like a good read

Need subwoofer
Need subwoofer

I kick myself, but it was done during my subwoofer replacement. Should have started my own thread, but that could be a Christmas project. I completely yanked my subwoofer and now have a Yaesu 2m radio sitting where my WORTHLESS stock subwoofer sat. If you have a pre 2000 LC, don't fight the sub, just yank it and put something else there.

I simply wipe down that back area and move on and it's still going strong. If I replace the front carpet, it will be with a similar product, maybe matching the plastic, but I just don't do well with carpet that absorbs liquids, haha.

Too many spilled beers on the tailgate! I used to hunt my beagles but they are too old now. They made a mess. I had a weathertech for them.

Yeah, I had a custom weather tech before that and still have the front and second row weather techs. The best thing I can say about those is they are detachable, but in the back it moved around and was a hassle. For the life of me, I don't get why ANY SUV has carpet in the back.

3-5 days a week, I have two big dogs in addition to the obvious beer spills and what not.

There is also a place in the Carolinas (I think?) called Stock Interiors that does carpet kits and are really affordable. Their website shows only 80 series but it might be worth a call. $283 for complete kit front to back.

I can’t work on a dirty engine bay. A little simple green and some scrubbing and it comes out nice. Pretty sure this was the first time ever

I had a spot that was ugly and had some paint scuffs on it so I compounded and polished it out.

I did some more experimenting today with recoloring the back seats. I got some Rustoleum gloss dk gray and lacquer thinner and a rag and got to work. It came out really nice. I wish they had a flat or semi gloss.

I wonder what they daily wear factor will do to this.

I also took a magic eraser to the panels on the front seat. I scrubbed pretty good on it but never went through the gray color. It is noticeably softer, less shiny, and lighter.
Caution: this is not recommended to do on good seats.

Woo hoo! Got my LSeat.com seat covers front and back today! They look great. They match the eBay center console cover almost perfectly. Like everyone says, they are grainier than factory but I like that anyway. Stitching is great. They even have the thin netted pad sewn into the back of the leather surface.

Time to get out the hog ring pliers! Can’t wait to see the finished product
I have a few pairs of hog ring pliers and I have done 4 sets of seats but this is my first seat recover newer than 1974. I will inspect the springs and repair anything damaged while I am in there. I may see about building up the lumbar a little bit too.
I am actually in the middle of completely building all of the springs and spring frames for my 57 Chevy seats.

Well my starter solenoid should be delivered tomorrow but I may not get to work on that part till the new year.
The kids took a good nap today and I had the day off so I pulled the passenger valve cover to get at those gaskets. The gaskets felt like plastic.
Pulling those spark plug grommets in the valve cover was new to me. Spent a few minutes on the first one and the rest were easy. I used some Way Oil and a scotch brute pad to clean all the gasket areas. Gasket held easy on the cover while installing.
I noticed some FIPG in the 90* corners and cam plugs. The cam plugs were dry so I left them (they are a must do on 3rd gen 4Runners). I put some FIPG in the corners and put it all back together torqueing to 7lbs to crush the new gaskets.
Valve train looks clean.
I used the Fel-Pro kit from Rock Auto.
Cleaned up the valve covers with oven cleaner.

April 30 is the due date.
It is tough getting time with two kids, ages 2 & 3, a pregnant wife and two old dogs. I also do all the maintenance on both other daily drivers except windshield replacements and tire replacements. Free time is valuable.
Cody, my almost 4 year old, sometimes likes to watch and help.
