Just got back from Calgary.

Did 303 km between gas stations, 36 litres to fill back up (three automatic click-offs at both stations)

That comes out to 11.88 litres/100km or 19.8 miles/gallon
yes that's per US gallon

I don't know if it was the half can of Sea Foam I ran through with the last tank or a fluke good tank of gas...... but I've never beaten 16 miles/gallon before.

Driving 60mph highway, slow and steady - no stompin' on it...
cool day, no AC, windows up, no wind.
overall climb in elevation from 70 ft to about 1200 ft

It is, but I don't think that could play into it. It doesn't change the drive ratio on the highway (other than when I drop to 3rd). I'm loving the VB though, passing and hills are much nicer now. I suspect the milage was a fluke, but I'll keep an eye on it, I have 2 more round trips to Calgary in the next couple weeks, and much more highway time through the rest of the summer.

i think something was off... or you had a freak tank. either way makes you feel good dont it.
I had a best of right around 16mpg (maybe 15.8 was the number) in my Fj60 Runnin 4.56 gears and 35's...
Usually i average 12.5 on a tank tho and that usually includes at least some sort of mild wheeling. All highway no wheeling 13-13.5 ish, depending on my tire pressures'

Are you running stock size tires? I cant quite read the amount per gallon on the recipt what are you guys paying up north? I filled up last night 18 gallons $74.00 11mpg average, I am putting my 30x9.5s on and tune up for summer to see if it helps.

I usually get 13-15mpg. 2Ftbi, 4.10, diffs H55f, 255/85R16 (~34") Cooper ST, freeway at 70mph or around town.

It's possible out in Alberta to pull those numbers with a gentle tail wind the whole way. Alternatively I have had headwinds that have put me waay down in MPG for 8 hours straight. Those going the other way would have burnt next to nothing in fuel.

Where did you go? Calgary to Lethbridge ?

What engine are you running, still 3fe?

17 mpg at 90 psi stock tires.

I got 17 mpg the first tank of gas when I picked up mine in idaho a few years ago. Later, when airing the tires down a bit for a corrugated dirt road, I checked the psi on the stock tires and it was at 90 psi! I was amazed they didn't blow up on the previous 800 mile road trip. When discovered, I immediately brought the psi down to the 35 psi max tire rating and my mileage went down to about 12 mpg, the norm.

I was headed from Calgary up to Edmonton, so a bit of a elevation loss (3438' to 2196'), didn't notice any strong wind. I did draft behind a truck @ ~105 km/h most of the way from Red Deer though (just under half the way). I like drafting to save gas and use the truck as cruise control, but it does cut airflow across the rad, so the fan clutch engages much more.

Stock 3FE and A440F, extreme VB in the transmission (don't think this would do anything for milage), stock (235-75R15) tires @ 40psi with an OME heavy lift.

I just filled up after my recent upgrades, and I get 14 in the city. I only have a 4 speed, so highway isn't that much better, but the H55 will come later this summer. I'm hoping for 17 after that is done.

83 HJ60 32" wheels. On calm long distance driving in the hilly and twisty norwegian roads at 60-90km/h
....10 liter per 100km.. The US-gallon is 4 liters right? and imperial is 5 liters!? (aprx)

So that should be 25mpg (us) or 31,25mpg(imp)
It's incapable of doing less than 20 mpg.. unless you are stuck in mud.

Gotta love that 2H If this engine was in a light aerodynamic vehicle i think it would nearly make it's own diesel.

Now I have managed to get 17 MPG on a time or 2... so with the new valve body it is very possible

managing to get from 14- 16.5. With such a mixture of city and highway driving. hoping with a tune up maybe a little better not bad for driving a box down the road. 88 fj62 163,000 on the ticker. stock wheels . Had 89 fj62 with 32x11.5s and just shy of 200,000 was only getting 12 tops.

Got 16.2 miles/gallon coming back to Calgary, and an average of 16.0 for the round trip plus some city driving over the weekend. Still good, but not great.

Not sure if I got an incomplete fill on Friday, or just crappy city milage, but it took 16 litres to fill back up after 57 km of city driving/moving/hauling over the weekend. (equivalent of 8.4 miles/gallon city) Wasn't hard on the gas, but lots of short trips, and a couple heavy loads.
