How to remove the intake manifold on a 12HT? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,
I've recently bought a 60 series with a blown head gasket, and I'm going to attempt to do it myself in the garage (it will be a good learning experience), I'm by no means a mechanic so all advice is much appreciated.

I've been following the 12HT repair manual to remove the cyclinder head. I'm at the point where i have to remove the exhaust and intake maifolds. I'm wondering how to remove all the intake fold bolts out. The top row of bolts are easy to get to, but the bottom row of bolts are almost impossible to get to, with the injection pump in the way. Any tips on how to remove the manifolds?

Note: I'm replacing the head gasket without taking out the whole engine.

There are no input manifold bolts that would are difficult to access due to the injection pump.. I think you've mistaken the oil cooler cover for the intake manifold..

I second that.
What you need is a good quality 3/8 drive socket set with different length extensions.
Where are you located ?
 
On to taking the exhaust manifold off. Struggling to take one bolt off. It’s one of the four between the turbo and exhaust manifold. Three of them were studs and the nuts came off with a bit of wd-40 and force but the last one is weirdly, a bolt. I have a feeling that someone previously broke the stud and put in a bolt. Will put a photos below. I can put a wrench on it but won’t turn an inch (have soaked it in wd-40 for a week). I’m scared i will snap the bolt. Any advice is appreciated

I would like to advise that you get some appropriate caps to seal off the injection line ports on the injection pump and injectors.
Tape is not a good option as the diesel will soften the glue which will then stick to the ports. Foreign particles of any sort introduced in the high pressure system can easily be trapped inside the injectors and keep them partially open. Pistons in a direct injected engine can melt from the resulting rough spray pattern. Be super clean when reassembling and use compressed air to blow through the lines and at a 90° angle at the ports to suck out possible particles.
You can get those caps at a diesel or hydraulic shop for cheap.
Keep the good work going and report - I'm curious how your head gasket looks like.

Okay sweet as, i will definitely take that into consideration. Thanks for the help. I dont have much mechanical knowledge, i just learn from forums and youtube. I managed to get my hands on a 60 (first project) and im pretty determined to put it back on the road, also a good learning experience. My progress is pretty slow because of lack of time and every bolt i take off, im extremely cautious (almost too cautious haha). I'm still a student, finishing up electrical engineering this year at uni. But, yep will keep you updated
 
just read it now - you're in Auckland - that's 5 hours away from me .... I might pop in some fine day when back in AKL. Good to see projects grow.

What where the symptoms of the blown head gasket. ?? Oil in cooling system / cooling liquid in oil ?? ? Or dissapearing cooling mixture without leakage not combined with one of the first 2 symptoms .

Overheating and was loosing water through the overflow bottle. And while idling with radiator cap off, bubbles are present. I did the combustion test (c02 test) and there was a colour change. Didn't see any oil in the cooling system/cooling liquid in oil.
