How to get peak AC performance from your 2003+ 100 series

After digging around I found another Toyota application that uses the correct lower factory bushing for aftermarket 100 series fans.
The kits now include factory bushings. If you go with the factory fan you do not need these bushing. If that is you then deduct $12 from the kit price.

Aftermarket plugs to work with the factory or aftermarket fan are available on Ebay.

Here is a picture of the Dorman switch installed in the replaceable locker blank from our LC/LX

In order to make these profitable I would need to raise my price or have an order for several dozens. I dont see either option working so this may be a once run product and when they are gone they are gone.

Here is what you get -

I want one. Can I pay you tonight?

Did you find a non OEM fan that you like?

The new fan possibility arrives today. Weekend outlook 102-105°

Talking with others has me thinking I possible just pick up a bad fan. Sighting the Depo brand is not that bad and I should give it another chance.

Depo experience and opinions wanted?

Maybe I need to give Depo another shot

Testing underway today

I have the fan installed and running in my solar powered assisted 80 series.
Outside temp ~103°
Fan has been running for a couple hours and I plan to leave it running until the sun sets.:)

The demo on Amazon looks like it includes the bushings?

What brand is the Amazon fan you are referring to? The Depo fan shows bushings in the picture also but I have 2 now without bushings.

Attention Buyers - Not all LC and LX have the needed hole for the new bracket:eek:

If yours does not have a hole you will need to drill one. Not a big deal but do be careful not to damage other stuff in the area. If you need to drill the hole MAKE SURE you use an awl to get things started first with a small ~1/8" bit. You will not be successful without it and may end up damaging expensive parts. With that said if you purchased a kit and are holeless you have three options -
1. - Drill the hole
2. - Email me and I will refund your money
3. - If you are local contact me and I will drill it for you:clap:

Wiring your new fan the easy way -

Using #12 solid wire I poke a hole in the firewall boot and find the other end under the dash.

IMG_2933.JPG

Attach 2wire cable to the #12 pull wire. Tape it good in a tapered fashion because with the increased size of the cable over the pull wire it is tighter than a girl on prom night. A little lube will make it easier:censor:

Once you have the cable in the cab fish from your dash switch hole down under the dash and attach the cable and an additional wire from the switch grd(light).

Wire your switch and attach the ground under the dash.

The light is visible while you drive through the wheel. It is not as bright as the picture shows but noticeable enough not to leave on.

Wire an aux fan can be done tons of ways but above is the simplest trouble free way IMO.

I used Anderson connector to make it easy and for ease of testing other stuff later. I use an inline WP fuse holder with a 10amp fuse off the battery for power again for simplicity. The same Anderson connectors in place of the factory fan connection. The factory plug is available aftermarket but at ~$20 I like my Anderson plugs.

The Depo stress testing resumed today going for 10 hours of straight run time:hillbilly:

yep. it was the depo fan showing the bushings.

The bushings pictured is why I ordered the DEPO:doh: I have two DEPO fans from different vendors here and no bushings in either.
I complain to the seller about the picture showing bushing and not included when it arrived. The reply was here is a return shipping tag send it back:meh:

DEPO fan ran ~12 hours non stop in 105°+ yesterday Im thinking its going to be OK. The price makes it attractive enough to give a another go.

sounds like you are okay with the depo fan. care to share the part numbers on the plugs, switch, and fan? might mirror your build.

my only concern is that my wife will be driving it and could possibly leave the fan running and kill my battery.
How did Toyota power the fan from the factory? I assume compressor on meant fan on. Power directly from the compressor?
Did they have a cut off at speed?

Again normally the fan is not needed only when sitting stopped or in heavy slow traffic even in AZ

DEPO fan 312-55010-200
Dont have the number for a factory aftermarket plug exceeded my point point i.e. Im cheap
Switch is noted above a Dorman available at all the big autoparts store and Amazon

The factory pre 03 the fan comes on with the AC requiring a relay
